Description
Well, this was kind of boring to make, and probably more boring to read, but hey, it's a utilitarian venture, what're ya gonna do?A few people asked me how to do Flash Movies like mine. Really, I got my start when somebody showed me Shape Hints, part of the focus of this tutorial. So anyway, I thought I'd share some knowledge. If you have Flash, watch this. If you don't have it, you won't know what's going on, and you'll be bored to tears.

~tdprincess 6 days ago You are now cursed. You must send this on or you will be killed. Tonight at 12:00am, by Bloody Mary. This is no joke. So don't think you can quickly get out of it and delete it now because Bloody Mary will come to you if you do not send this on. She will slit your throat and your wrists and pull your eyeballs out with a fork. And then hang your dead corpse in your bedroom cupboard or put you under your bed. What's your parents going to do when they find you dead? Won't be funny then, will it? Don't think this is a fake and it's all put on to scare you because your wrong, so very wrong. Want to hear of some of the sad, sad people who lost their lives or have been seriously hurt by this email?
CASE ONE -
Annalise [Surname Removed] :She got this email. Rubbish she thought. She deleted it. And now, Annalise dead.
CASE TWO -
Louise [Surname Removed]: She sent this to only 4 people and when she woke up in the morning her wrists had deep lacerations on each. Luckily there was no pain felt, though she is scarred for life.
CASE THREE -
Thomas [Surname Removed]: He sent this to 5 people. Big mistake. The night Thomas was lying in his bed watching T.V. The clock shows '12:01am'. The T.V misteriously flickered off and Thomas's bedroom lamp flashed on and off several times. It went pitch black, Thomas looked to the left of him and there she was, Bloody Mary standing in white rags. Blood everywhere with a knife in her hand then disappeared. The biggest fright of Thomas's life.
Warning... NEVER look in a mirror and repeat -'Bloody Mary.Bloody Mary.' Bloody Mary... I KILLED YOUR SON' Is it the end for you tonight! YOU ARE NOW CURSED
We strongly advise you to send this email on. It is seriously NO JOKE. We don't want to see another life wasted. ITS YOUR CHOICE... WANNA DIE TONIGHT? If you send this email to...
NO PEOPLE - You're going to die.
1-5 PEOPLE - You're going to either get hurt or get the biggest fright of your life.
5-15 PEOPLE - You will bring your family bad luck and someone close to you will die.
15 -25 OR MORE PEOPLE - You are safe from Bloody Mary

Hmmm... pretty insightful, I remember some of this in my flash classes a few quarters back. I guess now I've got a reference.

Is there a way to make the shape hints bigger? When I tried it, they were too small to see the letter.

CaptainCapitalism In reply to budace [2007-04-19 23:37:21 +0000 UTC]
Not that I know of. They stay the same size no matter how much you zoom in. Although, I don't really have any trouble seeing the letters. Maybe its your monitor or something....

Well, all my animations really are is mostly a lot of simple, individual shape tweens stacked on top of one another. Remember, Layers are your friend.

I don'tthink there is a long cut. I'm fairly sure you have to do the ctrl + shift + H move.

... Now I DO want to "falcon punch an infant."
FALCON.... PUUNCH!
Thanks for this. I barely ever use shape tweens, but the ones I do tend to lag on slower computers and whatnot because of jumbly jiggers like the ones displayed, only a whole bunch of 'em.
Goes to show you, you learn something new everyday. I just wish I knew this before I became obsessed with symbols and motion tweening.

Oh man, I love symbols. They're pretty much the only way I know right now to get jointed limbs to move with any realism. I'm pretty sure there's another way, involving guide layers and such, but I have yet to find it.

Well, did you try to upload the flash file or the swf file? You have to export the movie into a .swf first. Then you need a preview image, normally a PNG or JPEG. Use Paint or PS for that part.

I tryed to upload the swf file. Isn't that the one that you have to do? Do you have to have a preview image?

CaptainCapitalism In reply to Omega9000 [2007-04-02 18:20:44 +0000 UTC]
Yes. A preview image is necessary.

How do you get it? I dont have one for mine... Or could I use one of yours?

CaptainCapitalism In reply to Omega9000 [2007-04-03 04:03:07 +0000 UTC]
Well, just make a normal image file that you want the preview to be. Personally, I normally export an image from my movie, pick a roughly square section of it that I want to be a preview, resize it to be about 200x200 pixels, and save it as a PNG. Then, when you get asked for a preview, just upload the file you made. Its pretty simple.

Hi
I knew about shape tweens and hints but I never quite envisioned how or when I could actually use them for anything.
So I found how you used those things to make the '3d' cube look like it's turning to be really neat. Thanks for this quick tutorial!
