This is something I'm quite fascinated by yet no-one ever talks about is, there a hundred of videos online talking about Disney and yet no-one has even attempted to ask this question. Jeffrey Katzenberg is usually credited with kick starting the Disney Renaissance with films like the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Unfortunately, Katzenberg left after Michael Eisner refused to prompt him as president of Disney after the form one "Frank Wells" died in a helicopter crash, this infamously led to the creation of DreamWorks animation. But what if Katzenberg has become president of Disney or what if Frank Wells had survived, how would things be different? Most people love to blame Dreamwork for the fall of hand-draw animation, but the truth is, this would have happened even if Katzenberg "had stayed at Disney, so the question isn't "Would CGI still take over?" but rather "How would its takeover be different with movies like Shrek and Madagascar?". The success of DreamWorks lead to the rise of other animation companies and the mass-produced animated films like Illumination Studios and the Despicable Me franchise, so if DreamWorks never existed, then there's a chance that studios like them would never have emerged. How it would affect Disney, Maby the studio would have bout out Pixar much earlier than in aware timeline and pushed to make the switch to CGI much sooner, Maby movies like Brother Bear and Home on the Ranch would have been done in CGI instead of Hand-Drawn Animation and a much bigger push to make it look as good as it does today. Katzenberg probably wouldn’t have pushed for it straight away after Toy Story as the technology wasn't quite there yet, but he would been keen to seen what it can do. And being a protagonist, there's a chance that we would have got the version of Dinosaurs as originally intended. And with no competitors, Maby studios like Warne. Bros Animation could have made a comeback with their own CGI animated movies. With out the success of movies like Shrek, movies such as Chicken Little and Enchanted would never have been made. Some other studios might do Shrek, but it might not have been as big a hit as it was in aware timeline. With no DreamWorks and a earlier push for CGI at Disney, thing could have gone very differently and changed the face of animation forever.
