Description The Centaur Class Frigate Prototype, is a TMP era design, by me. And is based off of the TNG era Centaur Class.

Notes: I went with the smaller size, because, despite the use of an Excelsior Class saucer, the designer/builder of the TNG/DS9 model, meant it to be in the same size class as the Miranda Class parts (including bridge module) that were also in the model.

What's up Capt I think I have an Idea for your next Project . Now I know its going to be a challenge the Arc Royal Carrier. Now I've started working On my version. It's slow going a lot of custom parts. So think about it our two carriers of that design will be the first on this site.

You mean this? ... screenshots.filesnetwork.com/1…

I don't think there's a single stock part on that thing.

yes I know I've been modifying & customizing a lot of your parts to build it.

I don't usually care for Centaurs but this is actually a pretty cool variation.

I think had the parts been to scale, with each other, on the original, it may have looked better. And thanks!

The Centaur is a design that really baffles us who try and re-create it. I have done it in 3D and it's a real pain as you either have to go canon with the parts all out of proportion or go more realistic and then the ship doesn't look the same as seen on screen.

Great job on this prototype I like it. I think more so than the canon design.

That's what happens when you kitbash from multiple scales, using recognizable parts. Either the saucer's smaller than it should be, or that is the biggest bridge in Starfleet History. And the nacelles...Sticking the bottom halves of two Excelsior nacelles together, does not a good design make.

Thanks. I think the shuttlebay came out well.

I agree, again excellent work on this re-make. After posting my original concept I went and had a look at my own re-make I made a couple of years ago. Funny how one artist can make another go back and look at their own work.

Thank you. That means a lot. What class? I didn't see a Centaur in your gallery.

I haven't posts it on DA, or anywhere else for that matter. I made the 3D model and that is it.

I just uploaded some images to my sta.sh for you.

Thanks. I tried to make it feel smaller, more like the Miranda in size.

Well, that IS what the designer of the actual model had in mind.

Using those old physical models but have been quite difficult, compared to what we can do in 3D these days. The expense of making a new design but have made it more cost-effective just to kitbash, especially considering it was a one off ship and was only seen on-screen once or twice for only a few seconds.

I find it hard enough to do 2D work...I can't even imagine how hard 3D is/

3D can be frustrating sometimes, mapping the textures is in fact the worst part of it. I always map a blank texture then build the texture afterwards. Still I dread mapping as you get it wrong and discover it later that's a whole lot of work down the drain.

An interesting take on the class. I like it!

BTW, in the case of this saucer size, the rim is only a single deck tall.
