Description The Chandley Class Frigate is another of FASA's odder designs. It's also, in my opinion, in the wrong class. As it's weapons, and overall size makes her more of a heavy cruiser. But it's still a well put together ship.

Wow, you took one of the ugliest FASA designs I've ever seen and made it look cool! Bravo Zulu!

I don't know about the ugliest. But definitely not pretty. And thanks, I do my best.

FASA used a slightly different classification system compared to the modern US Navy. Their idea of a frigate was based on the Age of Sail version where they were large, fast warships capable of independent operations away from the line of battle as scouts or commerce raiders as opposed to the modern small escort ship.

I know. But she's not very nimble. And she's bigger than the any ship of the line, of her time period. That's where the question of her class comes from, for me.

Have you done the FASA Northampton?

I always liked the Chandley, and agree it was "miscast" in the FASA book. I don't recall, did the FASA design have the "Chunk" taken out of the front of the saucer or was that something you changed ala NX-01 for a deflector array placement?

There is actually two versions of the FASA TMP Chandley...This one being a modified version from Neale "Vance" Davidson.

Form the front, she looks like a linebacker or a Klingon Bird of Prey. Otherwise, good design.

Yeah. She looks tough. And like I said, I think she's classed wrong

Yep, she looks too big to a Frigate - a Light Cruiser maybe, a Heavy Cruiser most likely, but definitely not a Frigate.

You can tell that this is a FASA design. I see the same angled, over-hagging shoulders found on a number of Battlemechs from Battletech.

You've made a couple of changes, I see..

Another of my favorite classes from the old game

I just went with what I found. So any changes that were made, were made by the artist I referenced

Just curious about the cutout in the saucer. Wasn't in the old Fasa schematics...
It's a nice touch, though.

Yeah...And as people have started downloading it, they'd end up with an unfinished ship...LOL
