about this design. I just heard and found the exact fitting name for those type of nacells on this Enterprise (Iprise).
Those nacells on this are nicknamed Churchill Nacells.

I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but I love Abram's movies even more than the rest of the franchise. Now, that doesn't mean I don't like the rest of the franchise.

Every opinion will have it supporters, as well as it's detractors. Thus, even if others may disagree with you, others will. So no hate.

Im notΒ Β sure what they where thinking. Imagine a Galaxy class with nacelles the size of its secondary hull?!Β However the AbramsverseΒ nacelle looks good on your Saladin destroyer.

If you look at the size of the warp field projector rings on NASA's proposed IXS EnterpriseΒ concept, it's actually pretty realistic, though.

Me either...And if the huge ship sizes are to be believed, then the JJ Galaxy Class would be nearly 1300 meters...Which is about twice the size of the prime Galaxy Class.
Making the JJ Galaxy Class nacelles about 20 meters longer than the Excelsior Class.
And thanks. Glad youΒ liked it.

To an extent...Not a big fan of those nacelles.

Can you possibly do a "warp Speed" version, if you have no clue what that means, it means the Tailfins on the naccelles open up, so does the deflector dish as JJ abrhams wanted actual moving parts to the enterprise Exterior.

If this is the original just try and imagine the refit version

23rd Century hot-rod, complete with tailfins...I just wish they could decide just how big she's supposed to be.

I'm going with the comparable to the Constitution refit. For the simple reason that building a ship the size of the Enterprise D on Earth would be stupid.

Bronybuilder14 In reply to captshade [2013-08-10 21:16:01 +0000 UTC]
It would seem that they re-sized the ship for "Into Darkness." It is now officially supposed to be about the size of the Constitution-class refit, rather than about the size of the Galaxy or Sovereign class.

Which is why I went with that size. As it was originally designed to be, before the SFX guys made her bigger.

They never did explain how something that was not meant to fly inside an atmosphere was able to break free from the gravity well and achieve orbit...

I'm pretty sure Impulse engines and the appropriate screw-with-physics-aspects of the ship work in atmosphere.

Alternate laws of gravity would go a long way towards explaining why the new Kirk doesn't need a girdle to hold in his belly.

Well, the new Kirk doesn't exactly HAVE a belly to being with, so...

I'm pretty much in the same page you are.
It's a shame that after two years we're still waiting for an official release of the blueprints and specs of this ship.
Excellent job!

Thanks. Though I know it's not wholly accurate as I didn't have anything to work from, at the time.

MS Paint...XP version (and earlier). The one they put out on Vista and later, uses a completely differant pallet.

You do all that in MS Paint ! The only things I've ever made in Paint have failed... miserably.
I use the GIMP for my (computer) artwork.

Well...I DO use MS Works to do the curved lettering...But otherwise, yes. I've been at it since the early 90s. So I've had a lot of practice...Though, it had fewer color options to work with in those days.

looking at the scale model I have in my room, I've noticed the nacelles are too big, the length is right, but the height is off. Just a little tip

captshade In reply to Athane [2009-08-25 07:58:24 +0000 UTC]
Well, when I drew this, there was nothing out to draw from. It's close enough for government work. And I've used the nacelles on other things, at this point. So I'll leave her as is, for now. I may draw her up again someday...Just not to day.
