The reason, that I have found, of why the Enterprise and supposed Constitution class from the reboot looks so weird is because there is no design lineage to it. You have saucers, then the nacelles , but you do not have a ship that has the same layout as the Enterprise.

Which is why I don't really count the reboot. This is more based on upcoming fanfilm "Star Trek: Axanar"

Indeed. I saw the prelude to Axanar - the Ares fills a void, and it's so good.
