So what are the two bits from the Miranda class supposed to be, exactly? On a a Miranda, they're positioned almost like anchors between the aft hull and the literal saucer, but here they're just kinda...there...and I'm wondering why, along with, obviously, exactky what they're supposed to be.
Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever known exactly what those bits were. I always figured them to be sensor clusters, structural anchors, maybe a tie-in piece of the deflector system...

Not the phaser cannons from the rollbar, if that's what you mean. I mean the two bits on the fore ventral side of the saucer, almost look like tiny deflector housings to either side of the actual deflector.
