Last night dry lightning storms rolled through the area and kicked of numerous fires. This is a stacked image comprised of about 60 sub frames. This fire was about 10km away. I don't like lightning in conditions like this. My thoughts are with those who have been effected by the much larger and more damaging fires burning across Australia. Please stay safe everyone.

There is a deep feeling coming from the photo. I hope tha fire diseaster in your country will stop soon. BTW here is prediction of -20 degrees celsius (from one extreme to another one ) PS just question: is there an orion constelation in trails?

Thank you for your thoughts. Finally had a bit of welcome rain today. Yes Orion is there in part. Cloud moving through the frame obscured parts of it at various times.

this certainly embodies the word 'catastrophic' coming out of the mouth of a survivor,
compare to the mouth of a politician, rhetorician or impact speaker.

Oh mannnnn...you folks are going through that crap too? We had severe drought and fire last year and nothing but fires, fires, fires, everywhere! I hope it breaks for you folks soon, Greg.
Cool image though--I'm torn between the beauty and frightening violence of it. Each bolt could be another fire. Stay safe my friend and pray for rain!

So let me get this straight...this photo has a) a thunderstorm, b) a fire in the night and c) star trails. What comes next? An asteroid crashing onto earth?
