This is the first time I have tried to stich an eclipse timelapse together. I hope it's ok.
The reason that I didn't get the moon coming out of the eclipse at the end, is that the moon set for me in Australia, while it was still totally eclipsed. The next eclipse in December will be perfectly placed for me, so hopefully I can do a more complete one then.
Full view for best detail.
Images taken through an 10 inch (25cm) F/4 Newtonian Reflector Telescope on a NEQ6 PRO Goto Mount, which can track the motion of the moon through the sky.
Camera- Canon EOS 1000D with a Baader Coma Corrector.
Exposure lengths range from 1/2500th of a second on the left to 13 seconds on the right.

Thank you very much for your critique of this work
I value your opinion. I'm glad I could share this with you and others, who either had bad weather or were on the wrong side of the world to witness this beautiful eclipse.

how amazing. I wasn't able to see the Lunar Eclipse this year at all because the moon was hiding behind a mountain and a bunch of clouds
so this is really a very nice opportunity for me - thank you!

Thank you I'm sorry to hear you missed it. Perhaps you will get a chance to see the next one in December [link] It looks like that for Austria the moon will be eclipsed as it rises above the horizon. So if the weather is kind to you you could see the middle to the end. I saw the start to the middle for this eclipse. Good luck.

That came out really well! Nicely done
I still can't believe I missed it. I won't miss the December Eclipse that's for sure! Well.. unless it's cloudy? Imagine the consequences of getting the moon eclipsed with a storm in the background! I think my brain would implode lol.

Awww That would be awesome I'm already thinking about what I can do with the next one. It's meant to be in Taurus for the eclipse. Pleiades and The Moon could well be a future title of mine. Fingers crossed for clear skies (or as you say, a nice storm on the horizon). Actually- now that I think of it- If you go back a couple of days on the Astronomy Picture Of The Day site, someone captured just that for this eclipse.
oh, and Thank you so much, Shaun.

I'm with ~T-e-a-r on this one. This looks exactly like the google logo (right down to the exact spots), but just darker..

Do you have a link for the one that was on Google? I stitched this timelapse together from all my own photos, taken with equipment that cost me over $6000 (Australian). I dont think I would spend that much money and stand outside in the cold for 3 hours to capture this,to then steal someone elses work. If I unintentionally put something together that looks similar to one made by someone else, then there is not much I can do about it. You can see the last image on the right in even greater detail on one of my other photographs here [link] Did I steal this from Google as well???

I didn't say you stole it - just that it looks exactly like it.
I mean they could be very similar images. It's possible.
The google images can be viewed here: [link]

Ok. Thanks for that clarification and link. It's just the way your comment was worded I got the impression that you were saying that it was stolen. I apologise for the misunderstanding. No hard feelings

Well, in that case I owe you an apology. It's just the way it sounded to me, was that you thought I had gotten this off the Google page. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and i'm actually very happy that you think it is good enough that it could have been picked up by Google. Thanks I'm glad you enjoy it.

It's fine; I often phrase things awkwardly, and so I'm used to misunderstandings. It really does sound bad when I think about it⦠D:
And no problem~

I can't wait for the day that someone on the moon gets a picture of the earth during a lunar eclipse! The whole planet would be surrounded by one big sunrise/sunset!
