I have been wanting to shoot from this location for years and years and I was lucky enough to get permission from the landowner a few days ago. It is hard to tell from the image but I was standing on the edge of a cliff with spectacular views of the surrounding area.
Over 180 degree panorama made from 12 individual images (6 x 2 rows) showing the full Southern Hemisphere view of the Milky Way at this time of year and also featuring the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds and the Zodiacal Light. 20/09/2014

Thank you so much Shaun and thanks for inviting me along to go up there. Yes we will certainly have to go back another time in daylight. Seemed a little bit of a waste just going up there in the dark. I was hoping you saw this one on here as I noticed you had disappeared from FB again, when I tried to tag you in it when I posted it there.

No problems at all Greg. Good to get up there to see the amazing possibilities!
Yeah, Farcebook is gone for good. Just got a bit fed up with it. Another unnecessary time sink.
Good luck with the forestry work, sounds like a busy season ahead!
Sing out if you can still make a little time to head up this way between work commitments.

Fantastic... I've always wanted to do this, of course it won't be on this level because I doubt I have the right setup and am heading to the observatory in a few weeks just to try. Any tips?

Is it saying too much that at first, I thought I saw a Halo Construct? XDDDD
Still, astonishingly stunning!

A mate of mine and I are actually thinking of going down to South America sometime in the next year or so. I'd love to shoot this in the Chilean highlands in those mountain deserts where they have the big telescopes. I'm also hoping to get to Norway or back up into northern Canada to get some good Northern Lights shots. I got a few shots of the aurora the last time I was in Iceland, but nothing that I thought was good enough to post. Keep on shooting, my friend. It's always a pleasure to see your work.
