So the speedway is finally done, I had other plans but I decided to keep things simple because Photoshop was being a bitch to work with even with support from tutorials. Started experimenting with designing the clouds, mostly with altocumulus, cirrus and some cumulus, with A LOT of help from references and some tutorials. Never really drew clouds or painted/colored them, funny no? Lastly the islands just floating off in the distance. I'll be adding the binary suns back with the lens flare but I need to work in a few things.

Should I CG most of this picture or cell shade? Never really tried either style so naturally, I'm on unfamiliar ground here. Thoughts anyone?

April 29th, 2013 - I decided to keep the background the way it is, I've spent enough time thinking of possible BG's and this one looks fine to me. I made the speedway/highway base color transparent and added some depth by means of a light hexagon pattern overlay with a hint of dark green but, that's only temporary and I've already spent some time drafting a more refined layout for the speedway/highway design; it'll be implemented on the next update.

The multiple colored lines fading to white are vehicles. The ones closest to the center are in the fast lane, traveling at or more than 768 mph (supersonic speeds) with the maximum top speed ranging up to 1,500 mph (mach 2.25), the others that are further toward the edge are on slow lane and are traveling below 768 mph. There are also two Local lanes designed for vehicles to pickup speed before entering the speedway. Everything from the local lane towards the speedway and off the local lane is automated to prevent user error at such speeds and ultimately to prevent devastating accidents.
