Description Final reference sheet for , along with [link] .

Kheprimon

Candlemon Armor Digivolves to Kheprimon via the DigiEgg of Knowledge, which, traditionally, is associated with insects. The flame on his head has transformed into a ball of light, a manifestation of the sun and the sign of an Egyptian deity, specifically, in this instance, Khepri.

Like many of Egypt’s gods, Khepri is a solar deity. Depicted as a scarab-shaped god, or sometimes a man with a scarab for a head, it was his task to roll the sun through its cycle, across the sky and through the underworld, each day. The plates which stick out from Kheprimon’s shoulders represent the solar barque, a long ship which was thought to help carry the sun. Khepri was especially associated with the sunrise in particular; sunset was sometimes assigned to another solar deity, Atum.

The vertical DigiCode at the lower center of the reference sheet reads, in Japanese, “All conversion has been enacted through me.” This is a reasonable translation of an Egyptian text that references Khepri, who, because of his role in carrying the sun through its cycle, was also seen as the god of transformations. The horizontal DigiCode in the middle of the reference sheet is an approximation of that portion of the text in its original Egyptian.

The katakana behind the front view of Kheprimon is, like the DigiCode, handlettered, and says, of course, "Ke-pu-ri-mo-n."

Additional notes on his design are included in the reference sheet itself. I may change one or two things about his design if someone mentions it.

If you need references of Kheprimon’s wing formation or attacks, I will provide them as sketches.

It was originally an Egyptian design, depicted as a headdress for some of the deities, but as Gomis pointed out, I guess it can be seen as antennae surrounding the sun too! I didn't even think about that.

Thanks ^^

Oh, yeah!! Ithought that too but as it was an insect I thought there were the antennae...What you say is something like in this one right?? [link]

Right, exactly! I just love the way the Egyptians used the solar disc ^^ In freshman year I was obsessed with Egypt, and a little bit of that still carries through I guess |D

I've always liked myths (specially greek and egyptian mythology) since very little, I even have an Anubis figure in my room .

I like the way his halo thing also looks like antennae.

I didn't even mean to do that--some deities just have those as headdresses in Egyptian texts--but now that you mention it, I guess it kinda does! Since they're not attached, though, you can guess that they're not functional that way. |D

Still, the look fits well with an insect digimon..!

Wow...WOW...I love this design! I love the fact that you used Khepri and how you made it look. The colors look great and match up perfectly and the solar barque idea. * v *

Amazing job 8D

Really cool design!! I love the colors, the shades of purple and gray, with the hints of gold. I like how you incorporated the ship into the shoulder design and changed the flame on candlemon to the glowing symbol that floats above his head. The face design on the chest is pretty neat as well.

I like how it displays the crest, making it evident what digiegg was used to armor digivolve.

I think technically all Armor Digimon are supposed to display the crest somewhere on their bodies. Most of the Digimon who digivolve with the DigiEgg of Knowledge also have the other little marking on the egg somewhere on them; it's sort of like a Y symbol with a couple other little marks. That didn't look good on Kheprimon's head through, so I went with it being reaaaally tiny on his gold 'wristbands.'

Thanks!

It's also seen on the carapace and banner as well.

oh my god what a bad ass digimon! He kind of gives me the creeps a bit but he's so cool!

Caretaker-of-Myth In reply to Strontium-Chloride [2012-02-25 18:26:47 +0000 UTC]

Haha, as much as a Kuwagamon or MegaKabuterimon is likely to, I guess! (Really the exoskeleton thing just an excuse not to give him any extra 'metal' armor, which I think would've really burdened this guy. He's already built like a tank.)

I like that he gives you the creeps, but you still think he's badass. XD That seems very appropriate. Even though Izzy and Tentomon were my favorite pair, I always did find the bugs pretty creepy and inaccessible; a lot of the time, they didn't even have visible eyes. That's why I made sure to give Kheprimon visible eyes--even if they are red (like Candlemon's). If having the Crest of Knowledge means I have to design a bug, it will be an awesome bug.

And actually I find wolves much harder to draw than bugs, so, point there. XD
