About time I got active with this club and submitted something new to
I had a quick inspiration to do this today after purchasing my new skates online. I plan to get back into roller blading regularly to get in shape.. and hopefully make this a cosplay for next year. (with my friend James as Mikado) We will be... *dramatic pause* "The Golden Pair" of Martial Arts Skating!
I had to come up with their colour schemes because the anime and manga depictions of these two are VERY different AND this outfit doesn't exist in the anime... only the b-n-w manga. I really want to do the outfit she's wearing in the 2nd book in the cafe because of the awesome fuzzy cloak she has but there are no colour illustrations of that outfit so I made up this colour scheme using the "toner" shading in the comic as an indicator of what colours Rumiko's trying to imply. Let me know what you think about the colour choices. Open to constructive critisism. (as always) 
EDIT/UPDATE: My friend James moved to New Yourk so I've put this idea for a couple cosplay on the back burner till I can find another decent Mikado to do this with. Plus I found out I SUCK at roller blading on uneven ground. Apparantly, I'm not as good as I thought. I can skate fine in a rink, but on uneven ground outside I look ridiculous trying ot keep my balance.

This is truely wonderful! Many fail at tackeling this pair in fanart. But you succeeded... Azusa's face is too darkly outlined and her eyes are lacking space I guess... only advanced critic I can give for something this wonderful... Yes I faved... ^__^

You always do splendid job coloring your characters ^_^ You use prisma coloredpencil, right? The folding & wrinkles on the clothings are just amazing (especially on the guy's scarf and the girl's coat). The color scheme's nice too. 
Just a lil' suggestion. Perhaps next time, you could some kind of light gradient background instead of just white

That's quite cool. The colors are rich, and you seemed to have pulled off the silver material of the guy's shirt rather well. The poses and expressions look good, kind of captures the confident arrogance that most of Rumiko's characters seem to possess.
The episode they're from is one of the few I actually liked when I attempted to read the series. Though I felt they could have done more with the concept, instead of make it a one-shot fight. I mean, wouldn't it be kind of neat if there was a whole arc involving ice-skate martial arts? They could even branch off into hockey, but instead of using sticks they would have to knock the pucks into the goals with fists and various other body parts. A potentially hilarious scene could develop, with Ranma and Mikado becoming so enranged at each other that they abandon all form and start swinging their respective partners feet-first at each other, in a deranged ice-skate fencing match. The blades clang and sparks fly, and the girls protest loudly!
Then again, maybe I skipped the previous episodes, and there already was an arc leading to the big fight. I sure as heck can't remember why Ranma and whats-her-name were even at the rink, let alone ice-skating.

Did you read the tiny story arc at the end of 2 or did you read all of book 3 and not 2?
Because Mikado and Azusa do get their own arc.. just.. not... that crazy..

I really don't know what books I've read. Just some that I've mooched from people during the lunch hour at highschool, a few that I've borrowed from you. Probably not in sequential/chronological order, either. But I just don't like the series enough to start from the beginning, or read its entirety. I don't like the main characters enough, nor do I hate them enough, to make me want to discover if they get what they deserve at the end.

Wow I like it alot! I don't there is any Azusa and Mikado fanart on dA other than the picture you just made.
I love the texture of Azusa's cloak. You can almost feel the velvetiness (is that a word?) of it. If my memory serves me Azusa and Mikado only appear for that one story arc in the manga while they appear a few times in the anime. I especially like the intro to the first movie where Azusa sees P-chan running past her feet , chases after him screaming "Charlotte!" while dragging Mikado along by his scarf. The poor sap.

I'm not sure if they appear anywhere else in the manga then the end of Book 2, and they pretty much are the entire story of Book 3.. but yeah... I remember the anime was ALOT different.. It was like .. wtf... Azusa was alot more scary.. with the room and all the stuff... like her "hobbey" was a more frightening concept in the animated.

Tell me about it! Azusa in the manga was just obsessed with ice skating and making sure she was better than everybody else. Anime Azusa was equally obsessed with ice skating but was also losing a few cogs in her brain or something and just ran around naming animals and inanimate objects French names. She has stockpiled so many things in her room she even has a Goodyear tire in her room (she most likely named it Jacques or something).

i love their expressions and poses! they seem so true to life and i tjhink youi chose the colors EXCELLENTLY...red and blue so traditional yet you put a newer spin on the way they work together. i love it!

On the box cover.. and in her colour illustrations.. he had brunette hair though...I think it could go over well either way.. and James is more dirty blonde (that will be cosplaying him prob.) so you'll prob. get it the way you want it when the design translates into reality!
