Description
No, I'm not being a cocky mother-luvva. It's the Fantastic Mr Fox.I'm really interested in Wes Anderson's new adaption of Roald Dahl's classic kiddie pleaser so I started thinking how I'd illustrate it on a long boring train journey.
I've wanted to draw anthropomorphic animals for a little while and saw Mr Fox as the perfect excuse.
This here is a very quick (1 or 2mins) ink doodle on the back of my coffee ring stained phone bill. I must pay that... I always saw Mr Fox as a quintessentially English eccentric and thought he must wear odd tweeds [link] and Debenhams [link] scarves.
I used this photo as Fox ref >>> [link]
I must stress though, that this isn't a 'fan art' for the movie or the book.
This is part of my plan to weedle myself into a Roald Dahl collaboration book coming up some time next year by Puffin or Bloomsbury or one of them... Mwa-ha-ha-ha-haaaa

The usual as well. The site has been so glitchy since the up-grade it's not even funny.

Thanks. Can't beat a good old fountain pen. It's my preferred way of inking.

Yes, they are quite wonderful. Fantastic, even. Unless they explode. Then not so much.

Explode? What the frig are you putting in your fountain pen? I use ink, not nitro.

I obviously have no idea what I am doing. Ever. I use cheap stuff and limited abilities. But you do a great job with it, so cheers.

Oh, i love the colors you used! And the almost 'sketchy' lines... it's beautiful!

Cheers. It was the fountain pen that made the line look like that. And the fact that it was a 60 second doodle.

Yeah, it was good but it kind of smirked at the original book. In places it was TOO 'Wes Anderson'.

It was a wonderful movie, and your vision for the main character is fantastic as well. Very wonderful job!

Cheers, bud. It all came from Roald Dahl's pages and my own kooky sense of fashion. I only got to see the film a couple of weeks ago and this has nothing to do with that version at all. I illustrate books.

If you like the scarf that much you can buy it from Debenhams. Only thing is it's actually a tie.

Very cool, I'm very interested in the movie myself, the only thing is that the animation is a little choppy looking so I'm not sure.
I love the illustration and your use of texture.

Cheers, bud. I do like my wildly eccentric fashion and oddly rich patterns. I'm truly a British nut though and through.
I think the animation is supposed to be choppy. Apparently when the London / Bristol based firm did a test it was "too smooth" and Anderson wanted it to look like those old arse juddery animations like The Magic Roundabout.

I'm not an Anglophile. I'm just from Britain. And the bloody place does my swede in. But my part IS beautiful. Google North Wales and you'll see.
I think Mr Fox looks to be a lovely film. If it's anything like his previous works I'll be very pleased.
