Oh! If you haven't, watch One Hour Photo. From the same time as Falling Down, and really good. A haunting performance by someone you wouldn't expect to do drama very well

Yeah, I know One Hour Photo pretty well. Went to see it in the cinema when it came out. Falling Down came out about ten years before One Hour Photo, though.

One of my favorite all time movies. Nice to see some fan art.

It's a cracking film that hasn't aged at all.

Truly cracking film. Brilliant and way overdue for a re-watch.

I LOVE this film. I may watch it tonight after the new BBC Day Of The Triffids.

Hey, I've seen a handful of this show, but is QI still playing? I love that show.
Stephen Fry, Allan Davies, Bill Bailey, Jo Brand and Dara O'Briain... some of my favorites!

Yeah, it's still going. They've just done the Christmas special and brought out the QI annual which is a cool read.

I love that show! Well, from what I've seen on Youtube. I love British stand up, but the one comedian that's big out here is Ricky Gervais, and he's ok, but not my favorite. The other is Russell Brand, can't really stand him though. OH I also bought the Book of General Ignorance, but the printers don't mention anything about QI in it

Ricky Gervais is a tit. He's not really "stand up" either. Check out fellow Welsh man Rhod Gilbert and English fop Michael McIntyre on you tube. My girlfriend likes him.

Yeah, I can stand Gervais, but I'd like to send Russell Brand back. Just checked out Rhod Gilbert and Michael McIntyre, good stuff! I'll have to watch some more. I'm not sure if you would know who this is, but there's one comedian who starts off his jokes and they sound racist, but when he ends them they're just innocent observations, one example is "How many Pakistanis can fit in a minivan"? "Four adults and a small child comfortably"

Hmmm. Doesn't ring any bells. I quite like Russel Brand. I used to love his BBC2 radio show because he did it with his best mate, Matt Morgan, who would put him down and take the piss out of him something rotten.

I do think he got a raw deal for that phone thing with Jonathan Ross. I've only seen one of his short gigs. I have to check him out again. Not sure how you feel about him, but I like the specials I've seen of Billy Connolly. I was also just watching Dara OBriain Talks Funny. Are there any other comedians you would recommend?

Lee Evans! Absolutely Lee Evans. Funniest man in the world? Maybe. And Eddie Izzard's EARLIER stuff. And Marcus Brigstocke [link]

Yep. It could be my number one as well. I never get tired of it. It's so good. It's witty, it's funny and it's tragic all at the same time.

It's really sad because so many times I've watched it and thought that could easily be me or anyone in his shoes. The world just runs off and leaves us standing confused... "I'm the bad guy? How did that happen...?".

Yeah, I know what you mean. I also feel the guy is right in many ways. Did you notice the panel at some point in the park scene? It says "no matter never mind". That's a brilliant touch. It illustrates what the world is like today. Nobody cares about anything and you can do what you please.

And the guy outside the bank who is deemed "Not economically viable". He's wearing the exact same clothes as D Fens. And the part where the Army and Navy guy asks his to give him his hand and he say's "I'll fall down"... Very ominous. All the references to London Bridge "is falling down, falling down, falling down...". Love it.

Yep, all you said is true. This movie is so well thought out, it's a shame it wasn't given the proper attention.
Also, notice the kid at the restaurant? He's the only one brave and sincere enough to raise his hand when D Fens asks what's wrong with the picture of the burger.
And then of course the final scene of the video is heartbreaking.

Again, this movie didn't get the love it deserves.

Some deleted scenes and some talk about the LA riots that kicked off around the release date etc. I'd some some commentaries and retrospectives.

CarlPearce In reply to citizen17 [2009-02-26 21:05:12 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. That's why the film was so damned controversial when it came out back in '93. It was that whole Rodney King thing... [link]
Nasty

Oh, I see. That might explain why it was sort of put aside in time.
Which is a shame.
Because it deserves more love.
