Description So. Here we have it. It's been a long time gestating but I've finally finished the cover for Doctor WTF?!, brain child of

Find the facebook page here - [link]

A few people have asked me what the hell I was thinking when I did this. The way I thought about it is the Doctor as a stereotypical mad doctor in the vein of Jekyll and his alter ego, Hyde.

I also love Frank Quitely's image of the X-Men villain Cassandra Nova, covered in the shell of her psychic Mummudrai form. All ectoplasmic with the arms here there and everywhere.

And I also love this - [link]

So this is the Doctor, making a balls up of a cocktail and going into multiple personality mode. Just think if they were to all burst out. He'd be like one of those pussballs - [link]

"DOKA"?

It's poor version of "Doctor" by orcs from Warhammer 40K.Β
1) They are mad;
2) Their teeths are too huge so orcs can't say some words with "r" at the end: shooter - shoota, chopper -Β Choppa, slugger - slugga, etc.

It's understandable that he's a little insane after what he's been through though. Anyone who watches their whole species get murdered and looses everyone they care about is going to be a bit mentally unstable. It's not rare for someone with Post Tramatic Stress, even someone who's usually mild-mannered and compassionate like The Doctor can become violent and dangerous if something triggers their past. I came up with the idea of him acting like he has Multiple Personalities, he'd act like all eleven incarnations at different times without warning.

He was like that when the Timelords were still alive. And he's the one who wiped them all out.

Just before the revamped series started in 2005. It's guilt. In his 8th incarnation (Paul McGann), he fought in the Time War and eventually locked the DALEKs and the Timelords in a time lock and was mortally wounded in the process, regenerating into his 9th incarnation (Christopher Eccleston) just before the 2005 series started.

He does go a little crazy at times doesn't he? He seems to go crazy whenever he's around a Dalek, it's like he's completely different person. I'll never forget when Rose and him meet one for first time and he was yelling at it. Then it said that he would've made a great Dalek.

I like the last episode of the series just ended where he walks up to the damaged, scared and dying DALEK and puts it out of its misery. And then in the next scene drops it's eye stalk on the bar. Very cool.

A "madman with a box" indeed. Actually, we've seen the Doctor go so very slightly "evil" (some might argue that it was ego overriding the id) when he saved the Mars Base personnel ... in that instance pretty much giving time and space the finger.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CarlPearce In reply to SciFi-Designer [2011-05-27 08:56:50 +0000 UTC]

He's gone loopy plenty of times in the past. The first Doctor was a little nasty at times. Kidnapping people in the first episode and having a really off temper. And let's not forget he wiped out his own race.

A complete nutter in a blue box, more like. But an eccentric nutter, which is why we British love him so.

SciFi-Designer In reply to CarlPearce [2011-05-30 18:37:31 +0000 UTC]

Yep, I well remember that! As was said in the Season 5 (re-envisioned) episode with the stone angels, "Dr. Song, can you assure me that he is not some kind of madman?" (a unsettled pause, finally) "I trust him." - when River tried to evade the dynamics of the question, it was a coldly comedic moment. The Doctor is quite clearly deranged, but he does it with such style that we forgive him - even hero-worship him for his nuttiness.

BTW, I absolutely adore this piece!
