Description
That's right, comic-fans. One ofΒ Erik Magnus Lensherr (aka Magneto)'s oddest costumes in his entire history. Complete colour clash and mad as a box of clowns. This was a cracking reveal in the comics. It was from a time when Magneto, believed dead, was in The Savage Land creating his Mutates (one of which, Amphibius, is seen at the bottom of this image). The original X-Men stumbled upon him and didn't even know who he was until he returned now wearing his classic helmet. The suit later changed to be red and purple and was eventually dropped all together. I'm pretty sure that version even appeared in the classic cartoon; Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends.
I love bizarre costume designs.

Bloody love those old cheesy costume designs. The ones that tiptoe on the edge between cool retro and fucking terrible.

You remember it. When I rediscovered it I thought it must have been a retroactive story because I forgot it was Neal Adams and I also forgot how long ago he was working in the industry. He looks WAY too modern compared to other stuff that was appearing at the time.

Yes, amazing stuff!
He also appears with the creator gear in John Byrne'sΒ X-men: the lost years.
The yellow jumpsuit favours him, someone should bring it back!

Really? I don't remember reading the that run. Was it a part of X-Men Classic or it's own run?
I wondered if they were hinting at the yellow jumpsuit with his look towards the end of X-Men first class. The traditional helmet in dark blues over the yellow flight gear. Very reminiscent.Β
