A very, VERY early work in progress to show you the different stages of a drawing and how it's coming together
This portrait of Matt Smith (a.k.a. the Eleventh Doctor) on A3 size is commissioned by ~trinityknot
who also requested to post WIP scans of the drawing on deviantART.I am not done with shading his face yet, but will continue after I finished drawing the hair. That way I can judge how much more (or less) contrast and shading his facial features need.

I do have the blue one too but my blue one is a .7mm and it contains HB lead. My grey one is the .5mm and it has 2H lead in it. I use the blue one more often than not. I just love the weight of the pencils; they feel like they glide over the paper all by themselves

do you use a stump to shade the face? or is it all pure pencil?

I used a tortillion for the shading, but most of it was simply done by pencil (without blending)
