Description
If you have read any of my descriptions more closely, you might have noticed I'm a great admirer of Jeff Buckley, a musician who passed away far before his time. There's no doubt you have heard his music before, with Hallelujah and Grace being 2 of his better known songs. On May 29th, 1997, Jeff Buckley died at age of 30 near the Mississippi River, where his body was found dead 6 days after he was reported missing. A drowning accident took away his young life.
Even 13 years after his death Jeff is still considered to be one of the greatest musicians of all time. To this very day he inspires known and unknown artists all over the world and influences musicians like Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) and Matthew Bellamy (Muse).
Yes, he inspired me too, in many ways. So when I bought this little old-looking sketchbook, I wanted to dedicate the very first pages to the extraordinary and beautiful person he was.
The lyrics on the left page are from his song "Lover, You Should've Come Over" because that's my favourite song of his next to "Grace". In both of these songs Jeff foretold his own death without even knowing it, which is both eerie and eccentric at the same time.
You will always be an inspiration to many and forever be in our hearts. Even though I've never met you, I still miss you Jeff.
Rest in Peace.
Drawn on 2 A5 pages with 0.5mm B mechanical pencil.

"My Sweetheart the Drunk" was the working title that Jeff Buckley was using while writing and recording the album. Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk is a collection of polished studio tracks and four-track demos recorded by Jeff Buckley.

I love how much love you put in to your art. You can really see it in all of you're drawings.
This one is no different, I think Jeff would be so touched to see this ^^
Insparation is a brilliant thing, and you, my friend, are also an insparation to many of us. Remember that

What? no Jeff did not kill himself. They thought he did, but they discovered his boot got stuck under water and he couldn't loose himself on time. It's terrible, because he had so many new plans for upcoming albums and wanted to rehearse and recover the last few songs for his newest album. Poor thing
We're awesome for having the same notebook. Go us!!!

En hoe toevallig is het dat ik net vandaag op Youtube een opname van Hallelujah heb bekeken? Prachtig nummer trouwens, ÊÊn van mijn favorieten.

Leonard Cohen actually wrote the original "Hallelujah", and many talented artists such as Jeff and others have done good covers of it. Another to add to the collection of faves on youtube...

I know he did, but his version was much and much longer. Jeff Buckley shortened the version by using only a few of the couplets which he probably liked the most.

Woohoo! Jeff is the best!

This artwork is really amazing and astonishing. That you have drawn it on A5 shows how talented a drawer you are, 'cause there are so many gorgeous details in it, that lots people who even draw on A3 can't seem to put into their drawings.
At first I thought the papers on left side were some pieces you had put into the book, until I realised that you also draw these, and I just couldn't help staring and thinking "oh. my. god. this is truly amazing".
I really love your work and you keep inspiring me to draw
