I guess this speaks for itself...
Some portraits I made in the years from 2001 'till... well... last month!
I hope this encourages people to create the things they like, whether it's drawn from reference images or just totally made up.
Sorry for the low quality. I can't post a high res version of this thing right now because my internet connection is terribly slow since last week. And my internet provider says they'll fix it within 2 weeks. Grrr!!!

It's so great you did this collection... not only it must be wonderful for you to see how much you have improved through the years, but it also shows other artists that if they want their art to be better, then they have to be persistent and maybe stubborn, trying not to feel uncouraged if something goes wrong at the first times. Even more, you teach us that you can't get better from one day to another, it takes time and lots of patience! Thank you so much for showing us this

You can't imagine how many notes I always get with the question: 'when did you start to draw portraits?' or 'how did you get so good!'. People think I was able to draw images like I do today just like that. But it takes so much more than that, like practice and a lot of patience.
But the main thing that kept me drawing was the fun I had!

Yeah, I don't think I can imagine. Your art is incredible, you make it look easy and maybe that's why people get the idea that "perfection" can pop up one day and voilรก!, you're a great artist.
I think it's great you do what you do because you have fun doing it, it's not all practice and time and patience... there's got to be the love

Wow that's so cool that you put this up here! it's definitely something aspiring artists can be encouraged by! It's definitely something I can learn from!I have recently started doing more shading in some of my stuff lately, I've started by tracing the pictures and then doing the shading by eye. The part I have the most trouble with is taking the time to do something really exceptional. for example; the most time I've spent on a drawing is about three to five hours and my biggest one I lost interest in. Although I'm thinking about picking it back up soon.
So I just wanted to say again how much I admire your work. You really have the ability to inspire people with what you can do.

Whenever I look back at my older stuff, I always wonder things like, "What the hell was I thinking?" and "Why did I rush this/skip this detail?" and such. Same experience with you, I imagine?

WOW, You're Absolutely Amazing! You're my idol now. xD 03-04 was a huge improvement. I've been trying to draw realistically, but I am both a perfectionist and a lazy artist, so I usually quite when it looks bad. I thought I probably would never draw even like your 04 pictures (and I probably wouldn't spend 30 hours on a drawing either xD). But maybe I'll try.

lol! I never ever knew I would spend 30 hours on a drawing either when I started with drawing portraits. But now I just love to work on something for such a long time. Sometimes I'm sad when I 'finished' something (artworks are never finished by the way).
I'm a perfectionist too and sometimes quite lazy. But when it comes to art, I wanna give myself for 110%

Practice makes the master! I too had practiced sketching ever since the 3rd grade and I am now in the 10th. I had progressed A LOT myself too. But you took it to the extreme!
