Well then, shame on me haha! But I'm already making the transition for tissues, I swear!
This is so insanely useful!! I never thought I'd see so many stuff put together with the one purpose of drawing something, but as you explained the use you gave to every single thing, it all made sense. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this and for sharing

Oh godness, that pencil eraser.... *drools* and even worse drooling over your different mechanical pencils, I CANT GET THEM ANYWHERE IN DENMARK. HB I can, and 2B , but then it just ends there, and to find a 0,3 instead of 0,5 in dk takes aaaages (but worth t) erm... I guess I have to order from abroad.

I have a question that you've probably been asked a billion times by now
Why should blending with the finger be against the law? Is it because of the oils the skin has...?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Cataclysm-X In reply to DreamSkaype [2008-06-26 08:20:56 +0000 UTC]
actually... not a lot of people asked
the skin sure does have oils. If you blend with your finger you get ugly stains and smudges on your drawing which cannot be erased.
So the best thing to do is to wrap a tissue around your finger and the problem is solved

I have one question though, what are the dimensions of the paper that you usually use?

One christmas I got a sketch pad and a lot of materials from my friend. There were blending sticks and pencils, etc. and then there was the Sandpaper thing. I thought it was useless, actually.
So...I threw it away.
I regret that now, lol.
Until this tutorial, I didn't know what it was.
This tutorial explained a lot to me! Thank you!

LOL poor sandpaper thing!
It's so weird stores sell sandpaper thingies like that without explaining how you should use them.
Maybe you'll find a new one soon
Thanks!

hmm not yet, but I wrote a list full of ideas and steps for tutorials
how to draw certain parts of the body like ears and teeth, how to draw perfect proportions, angles, imaginative things etc etc
I will also post more detailed explanation to the tutorials I've made so far. These are just basic ones... you know?

Yeah, but they're super helpful!! And I love looking at them. Anything you post rocks haha. I really liked the materials used tutorial type thing, and when you post the progressions you make, those are very inspiring .
Well I can't wait till you get the book finished, I will definitely buy a copy! And maybe buy one directly from you, hopefully signed? !! hehe.
Good luck on that though!!

SdeVarax [2008-06-26 04:15:14 +0000 UTC]
nice tutorial
do you use anything to seal the pencil drawings so they don't smudge after you've finished?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Cataclysm-X In reply to SdeVarax [2008-06-26 08:09:10 +0000 UTC]
yup, I put them in transparent folders!
There's also a special kind of spray called 'Fixative'. If you spray that on your drawings, they won't smudge anymore and they won't turn yellowish after several years
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SdeVarax In reply to Cataclysm-X [2008-06-26 08:44:52 +0000 UTC]
lol.
yeah I'm looking at fixatives for my drawings done in sketchbooks and not sure if they would affect them or not. good to know they would work though

I don't like tortillians. They tend to make things out of focus and remove what contrast I had managed to make when I use them.

Cataclysm-X In reply to genkaku-kun [2008-06-26 08:07:09 +0000 UTC]
well that's your opinion I find them very useful.
After I used them, I redraw some parts with a sharp pencil so everything looks tight and clean!

DutchessElizabeth In reply to ??? [2008-06-26 03:56:30 +0000 UTC]
I've drawn some sketches and I like using charcoal. However, whenever I finished a piece using charcoal or any other pencil, it always run off or smudged! I have a drawing pad and I put a clean ordinary paper in between, just to avoid the smudgings but whenever I open my sketch book again, I found some of my sketches ruined! What can I do to preserve them?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Cataclysm-X In reply to DutchessElizabeth [2008-06-26 08:06:26 +0000 UTC]
hmm well if the sketches are finished, it's best to put them in transparent folders. I think that's the only way to keep them clean since you already tried to put clean papers between them!
Hope you'll be able to find a good way
