that you for posting this, it helped me greatly. where do you pick up those cleaning pads? i'm just working on using blending stumps with my work now, i used to use tissue with the ends twisted up (i still find myself using them from time to time)

Uh, any art store which caters to professionals and art students should have them. My local ones are Blick (which also has great online selection), Utrecht, and (formerly, it close a month ago) Pearl.

What brand of Drawing Paper would you recommend?

I tend to stick to Strathmore 400 or Canson. Canson is creamier and smoother but Strathmore is cheaper. I also use hot press Arches for drawing.

the only thing that i can point out that is wrong was when you mentioned the blending stick. i have one(although i dont know where it is..) and it works wonders! but, you said that if you dont have one, you use your finger. this technique is actually a baad idea if your serious about your artwork!
what happens as you you blend/blur the graphite with your finger, your oils from your skin ruins the paper and picture. over time the graphite will fade and attempting to correct it makes the drawing worse-as the oily paper now resists the graphite(as well as the erasers). that's why you'd see artists put down a sheet of paper for their hand so as not to smear it or have their oils come in contact with their work.
other than that, i like how you laid out the tutorial. ^.^

I know it does ruin the paper, but the effect that I get from the oils is worth sacrificing some of the drawing's life for - yeah, I know, bad habit, but I feel it gives the blending a bit more organic feel at some points and it doesn't leave so many streaks from pressing too hard. I don't use it that often.

Omg. That was one of the most amazing things ever. o_o I totally did not know the whole H/HB/B thing, or all the difference/significances between the papers, or that there was such a thing as white powder (or electric erasers, for that matter), or that denser dots in pointillism make things more depthful (I'd just...clustered same-size dots more). So enlightening. Tsankyuu~
