Not really a tutorial, just a demonstration. I'm really hating the crappy arrangement, but it's too late now.

You can see here how an image changes subtly with each tracing- and why I hate to do anythign directly on the original sketch itself. Pencil is definately my medium. Ink and I don't cooperate well. As such, I prefer the original sketch and the colored pencil edition, despite my not having a skin-tone pencil on hand and poor Cleo winding up with that bizarre mix of a skin.
