Description * EDIT: I don't care if you'd have rather me said "SWEARING" or "CURSING" instead of "CUSSING", I've grown used to calling it CUSSING and I don't give a flying fuck how "childish" it sounds.

So, here's the thing. It actually depends with me.
When you're having a debate and you wanna sound intelligent, I wouldn't overdo the cussing. But frankly, if you're having a debate with a complete idiot, I wouldn't blame you for not being able to control your mouth.

Same goes for when I get angry or upset. I tend to let loose on the language.

But honestly. If someone can't handle a few bad words (I just think it's funny when I go to a stamp and people baww in the comments about "I LUV UR STAMP BUT I WISH U CUSSED A LITTLE LESS "), then your place isn't here. On the wonderful world of the internet, ESPECIALLY places like deviantart where you're fucking allowed to, you should grow some thicker skin or find your place on Club Penguin, or God forbid, Roblox.

Not here.

Not to mention, you can't exactly tell someone what to do in regards to how they talk, especially when it's not against the rules. I agree, cussing a LOT does make someone look like an idiot, but sometimes, when it comes to some issues, I don't blame people for exploding in a flurry of "FUCK"s and "GODDAMMIT"s.

We interrupt this stamp with a lols-worthy story:
I made an anti-bestiality stamp once, and somebody literally commented saying that they also hate bestiality and agree that it's sick and twisted, but said my cussing in the artist's description of the stamp was worse than bestiality, itself. Yes. Cussing is illegal for that very reason, right ?
OH WAIT. IT'S NOT EVEN ILLEGAL.
It DOESN'T spread diseases or kill/abuse animals?
NO IT DOESN'T. IT'S A MIRACLE.

How to use this stamp:
Copy and paste the thumbnail code to your journal, custom box on your page, ID, etc.

You just come off as forcefully persuasive that's all. Fine for English assessments, but on conversational terms it's quite jarring to read.

"Forcefully persuasive?" Well fine then;

I don't like their argument and I disagree with their points because everyone has the right to swear online. Seen as that's how I speak, I can't get more conversational. Acceptable?

RandomUsernameThing In reply to oOMunchyOo [2011-07-10 14:46:32 +0000 UTC]

I'm a college English student; I don't tend to do 'conversational' when I'm arguing my points - it's not who I am and it's never been like that because I'd probably forget and do the same in lessons. I guess an "I'm sorry" would work here but how I was talking originally was actually natural for me at times like this. I find it hard to do anything else.

Point one is valid whether they swear off the net or on it, since it's a general question about people I've never met, meant to asked by themselves, of themselves. Your last point is just a clumsy attempt to shut off debate with someone you disagree with, AND is illogical. If you applied this standard to yourself, you would never have replied to me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RandomUsernameThing In reply to deepvision [2011-07-10 14:04:12 +0000 UTC]

No; you said "if they wouldn't say it to your face" - they're willing to say it to your face as well as online, and your first point would not work whether that was incorrect phrasing, complete idiocy or purposeful.

As for my last point, I said you wouldn't comment on the stamp in the sense that you would expect to get comments arguing against your point as I did. It would do nothing to do with applying the standard to myself because I proved my point of you getting disagreeing comments. However, if I find a stamp I don't agree with, I don't comment on it - so no, no it's not illogical; that's more likely to describe your argument against my comment. I wasn't trying to shut off a debate - especially when the debate hadn't really started - I was stating fact. There is a difference and I'm shocked you can give mature replies and yet not understand this difference.

Being able to structure sentences a certain way that would be indicative of intelligence and maturity ≠ intelligence or maturity, bro, as you've witnessed with this idiot.

RandomUsernameThing In reply to RottedStamps [2011-07-15 17:58:09 +0000 UTC]

How I structure sentences really has nothing to do with it; I overuse semi-colons and dashes if I'm talking on MSN never mind anything else. It's just how I write and had nothing to do with my points. I actually agree with your point.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

deepvision In reply to popoyon [2011-07-10 13:01:38 +0000 UTC]

She spoke of people swearing on the Internet. I don't know if SHE would or wouldn't do it to a person's face, but since it's a general point about the Internet she's making, I think it appropriate to ask the question. Anyone, IMO, who feels compelled to resort to obscenity or any other abuse by way of a keyboard, should, as a matter of conscience, ask themselves this.

popoyon In reply to deepvision [2011-07-10 14:01:30 +0000 UTC]

Having friends and co-workers from 'ghetto' areas of my local large city, I can tell you that using profanity around or to the people there will not only NOT 'get you far', but could get you dead. Maybe I should've added a question about the capacity for sound judgement in people who swear too readily...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GinSmythe In reply to deepvision [2011-07-10 17:57:14 +0000 UTC]

Depending on the place personal insults can lead to a knife in the side but that doesnt change that they curse more, not personal but about other things in live, it might not apply universally but i've been to all kinds of places and generally the choice of words involved more cursing on the supposed low end and almost none at the places that claimed beeing higher educated

its nothing bad just that the educated people like to show how civilised and intelligent they are by not cursing while they sprout just the same nonsense in a more eloquent language

Kind of a habit. Thankfully I haven't ran into anyone asshurt about it. So I agree with this stamp. It's the internet, there's gunna be dumbfucks (PFFF) who will cuss probably even more than I do. . .
Although it gets very annoying if they use it every other fucking (FFFFU-) word. That's just...no. Or they sensor it out.

Caution-LowCeiling In reply to SilversAngel [2011-07-11 04:24:03 +0000 UTC]

'Fuck' doesn't even occur to me as a "swear word" anymore. Whenever I hear it, I just think of it like any other word.

Definitely. Cursing is honestly a WORSE issue on the internet, given that a lot of people don't have the balls to do it offline.

I like how boner makes that list

I don't feel I could ever see boner as a swear word, I'd say its just inoffensive slang

yelling bloody, bugger, or spastic is clearly far worse than god

I still like how far up wanker is, I could never be offended by that word, it sounds hilarious

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RandomUsernameThing In reply to Mr-Roka [2011-07-10 13:01:22 +0000 UTC]

In all fairness, wanker's not a commonly used word here in the UK yet a comedian on tour asked, when he was in my town, what everyone's favourite word was and half the room yelled "fuck" or "shit". Because wanker's not used here much, it's probably found more offensive when it is used

... Though I wish I knew how "arsehole" and "arse" are swearing according to the list when they were always used in schools as a way to call someone an "asshole" without getting told off. Along with just being confused at "bugger", "balls", "Jew", "sodding", "Jesus" and "God" even getting on that list. That's just rather amusing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mr-Roka In reply to RandomUsernameThing [2011-07-10 15:06:44 +0000 UTC]

I've only seen the words arse and arsehole a few times, I thought it was just some kind of popular euro slang. In my schools the only substitute curse word we ever used was "beezy" for bitch, other than that we just cursed, though I imagine most American public schools aren't the classiest places.

If I saw that list anywhere other than wikipedia, I would think it was somebodies idea of a bad joke. It is pretty amusing how it goes from somewhat serious curse words to balls and religious figures.

I do get spastic now though because wiki has a couple of nice big paragraphs on the big difference between UK spastic and US spastic.
