Description
I have a dilemma...
something like
...
Emotional anguish= highest Tragedy
Tragedy = highest Art
...
And suddenly
I saw...
What I would do
(And others too)
To get
my Fix--
Man, it looks *really* angsty, that's true, but 1) it's "addressing" a bit different issure and 2) on second look it's rather...strange.... (For a while it looked like a perverse "Madonna with Child" thing, heh. Heheheheheh.) And don't you want that hairstuff??
Since I didn't realize until too late that it's a bit hard to infer (though logic tells us most people lack holes in their backs), the grey figure did indeed *tore out* the heart (and whose red-shining blood darkened to black in the scan).
Marker, ink, and colored pencil. (including the annoyingly metallic silver one I hadn't done anything with until now)

Thank you so much, I'm glad it inspired you! I was going for the paradoxical effect of her being sad because of the figure's pain that *she* inflicted, glad you picked that up!

Now that's artistic. It resembles the "La Pieta" but I have to remove the association because I believe this to be a different thing than what I consider to be sacred. It is an expression nonetheless, and a great piece. Nice work.

beautiful.
i love the flow and texture of both figures. interesting how you used a stigmata in the soul's appearance, wierd how this ties in with the "madonna and child" look.
the black streak coming down from the eyes of the white apparition seem like tears, creating such empathy that one loses sight of any "creepiness" that the creatures appearance would otherwise bring.
the white apparition also reminds me of a story my aunt told me once about an angel that came to her one night. this piece is nearly exactly what i see when i hear her describe the story to me, which is eerily interesting to think about in regards to the perspective of angels and the heavenly realm.
thanks for bringing such a creative and well done piece.

Thank you for the wonderful comment and love I was trying for a kind of paradox between the fleshy bleeding creepy tones and the beauty they're put into, hence the tears. That's intriguing about the angel anecdote...very neat. Thanks for sharing!

Good art is the kind that makes you just shut up a second and take a real good look at it. This is good art. I'm undecided as to whether the white figure is good, evil, or just cool, but I do know that I want that hair. I feel kinda sorry for Red.
Interesting mix of media.

I very much agree. If you're not a bit shaken (or stirred, etc.etc.) by a picture, it't ain't art. Glad you like it! And the point is that we *do* feel sorry for "Red", so, er, woo?

Some may think of this different than I, but this is my way of interpretation:
The red figure lies gracefully in the right figures arms, the white figure holds his heart in its hands. The red figure belongs to the white. The red figure is stuck, his legs are tied, therefore he cannot move or run away. He lies there still as the white figure holds his heart, carelessly. The grip the white figure has on the heart is soft, no grip at all. As though the heart is falling from its hands. The red tears coming from the white figures eyes are how closely the two were bound together. So closely they became one. With each tear the white figure loses him more and more. Until finally there is nothing left.
Nice drawing.
