Description
'Show Desktop' is a small portable application, inspired by Windows 7 Aero Peek, that creates a small rectangular button at the right side of the user's taskbar that not only replaces the original Windows 7 Show Desktop Button, but also adds tons of features. For those using Windows Operating Systems, 'Show Desktop' is fully compatible with Windows XP and Vista, and provides all of the features that can be found on the Windows 7 Show Desktop Button, and more.

'Show Desktop' is greatly customizable, in that it allows the user to change the application's settings to their liking.

'Show Desktop' also gives the access to Shutdown options directly from the Show Desktop Button. These options allow the user to easily switch users, log off, lock, sleep, shutdown, restart, and hibernate their computer straight from a menu accessible from the button itself.

Features
• Show Desktop Button addition for Windows XP, and Vista; Show Desktop Button replacement for Windows 7
• 'Aero Peek' support for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 with customization.
• A redesigned and easy to use Exclusion Manager to exclude certain programs from being peeked through
• Shutdown Options
• 'Toggling the Desktop' and 'Minimize Windows' features that allow the user to choose the method in which open windows are minimized.
• Ability to change the delay before when 'Aero Peek' is invoked
• Support and automatically adjusting feature for different taskbar sizes and positions
• (NEW) Drag and Drop feature where all windows are minimized when a file is dragged onto the Show Desktop Button
• (NEW) Option to have the application run on Windows Startup

and more...

Show Desktop XP is exclusive to Aero Xtreme 7 XP . You may NOT package it with a theme or any other work without my or IanITAInc 's permission. However, if you want to feature 'Show Desktop', you can simply simply post a link to this page.

When I asked CeIIular to do this a few months ago, I really didn't think he would pull it off... and to my surprise, he succeeded and went way beyond my expectations. So hats off to CeIIular! You are an incredible VB programmer!

And thanks Lannie for the great critique! You nailed it!

I've been running nothing but Aero Xtreme 7 in tandem with Show Desktop in their various incarnations on the old XP for about 3 months now and will probably never use any other arrangement. Why bother? (I do have Viglance running, but only for the preview function.)
I sometimes wonder whether has a poster of on the office bulletin board that he throws darts at because deviants are slowing down Win 7 sales just a little.

With over 2,000,000 downloads, =giannisgx89 is doing a pretty good job at slowing things down... and maybe I'll do the same once Aero Xtreme 7 for Vista is released

It's a wonder that Microsoft never slapped him with a cease-and-desist order... When Windows Vista first came out some modders were actually threatened with prosecution for EULA violation. Even WindowBlinds skinners. (which is why, to this day, you don't see skins on WinCustomise with Vista style UserPic windows if the skin is for for XP).

Go Gianni!

Maybe they haven't seen it! Ha! Ha!

Anyways, all of my skins will be compatible with Show Desktop including a VS that I will soon be doing for Windows 7! I currently have it working on my Windows 7 system and I like it a lot but the button is on top of the Windows 7 Show desktop button so it's a little bit to opaque. Will be fixing this soon for Windows 7...

Only for compatibility with Show Desktop and I might remove the smoky parts of the taskbar (beneath the orb and tray area). I really don't know why they did that. It doesn't really look good and I don't think it's required...

This is literally the best thing that's ever happened to me on Vista. Personally, Windows 7 is too expensive. So I turned Vista's Taskbar into a Win 7 Look-Alike. Thanks! You deserve a lot more than a Fave for inventing this.

Great. Can you make it compatible with autohide option for the taskbar? It isn't smooth going down. And also an option to set the height because some of it is still shown when the taskbar is set on autohide.

Thanks for a great app! Using it on Windows 8.1, since the button is removed in them.

I found only one disadvantage—one can‘t set custom reflection image.

1.Great work you've done with this!
2.how can I add the rainmeter skins on my desktop to the black list?
They get caught in the peek function.
Could you add the ability to add to the black list with out having to choose from the list because rainmeter skins dont show. I'm on winXP if you that helps.

+ What about the addition of an option for Middle Click that opens the application of our choosing when we Middle Click on the Show Desktop Application, which can be toggle on or off, as well as a dialog box to browse for the application? I have an error thats been generated from your program, it is
"A new guard page for the stack cannot be created."
and the program exits. I've attached a screen clipping of the actual error at this -> [link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sk8rDude7 In reply to CeIIular [2012-07-31 19:21:56 +0000 UTC]

not very often.. its happened maybe 3 times since using your updated Show Desktop Application. I am running 'Atomic Alarm Clock', a tray replacement clock for the standard windows clock, which I just realized might be the cause of it, not sure however. maybe a run-time error or similar. I really have no clue, but I will keep an eye on it and keep you updated. Other than that the program works flawlessly.

Sk8rDude7 In reply to CeIIular [2012-08-02 06:27:46 +0000 UTC]

thats what I was thinking but I got it again after I checked that, restarted the program and today another error popped up and it was a little more descriptive this time.. here is another small screen shot clip [link] -The Title Read '.NET-BroadcastEventWindow.4.0.0.0.2bf8098.0: Show Desktop v1.2.11.exe'

CeIIular In reply to Sk8rDude7 [2012-08-02 18:41:48 +0000 UTC]

Can't figure out what's causing it. Really there's no place for a stack overflow to occur while the program is idle. For now, I've downloaded 'Atomic Alarm Clock', and hopefully I'll be able to recreate the bug. Thanks for giving me the heads up about it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sk8rDude7 In reply to CeIIular [2012-08-02 22:34:06 +0000 UTC]

yea, the error is just so random and rarely seems to happen so I wouldnt worry about it. I just restart your program and carry on lol But either way I think you will enjoy Atomic Alarm Clock, I use it in all my computers/Windows Operating Systems ... its just weird without it and very customizable too

CeIIular In reply to Sk8rDude7 [2012-08-06 00:44:44 +0000 UTC]

This is probably one of the worst things that could happen. It's a big enough bug that it crashes the app, but rare enough that I can't figure it out Hopefully if more people gte it, I might be able to fix it.
