Description
'Show Desktop' is a small portable application, inspired by Windows 7 Aero Peek, that creates a small rectangular button at the right side of the user's taskbar that not only replaces the original Windows 7 Show Desktop Button, but also adds tons of features. For those using Windows Operating Systems, 'Show Desktop' is fully compatible with Windows XP and Vista, and provides all of the features that can be found on the Windows 7 Show Desktop Button, and more.
'Show Desktop' is greatly customizable, in that it allows the user to change the application's settings to their liking.
'Show Desktop' also gives the access to Shutdown options directly from the Show Desktop Button. These options allow the user to easily switch users, log off, lock, sleep, shutdown, restart, and hibernate their computer straight from a menu accessible from the button itself.
Features
• Show Desktop Button addition for Windows XP, and Vista; Show Desktop Button replacement for Windows 7
• 'Aero Peek' support for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 with customization.
• A redesigned and easy to use Exclusion Manager to exclude certain programs from being peeked through
• Shutdown Options
• 'Toggling the Desktop' and 'Minimize Windows' features that allow the user to choose the method in which open windows are minimized.
• Ability to change the delay before when 'Aero Peek' is invoked
• Support and automatically adjusting feature for different taskbar sizes and positions
• (NEW) Drag and Drop feature where all windows are minimized when a file is dragged onto the Show Desktop Button
• (NEW) Option to have the application run on Windows Startup
and more...
Show Desktop XP is exclusive to Aero Xtreme 7 XP . You may NOT package it with a theme or any other work without my or IanITAInc 's permission. However, if you want to feature 'Show Desktop', you can simply simply post a link to this page.

You can copy Show Desktop to your Startup folder, which should be C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Hope this helps

could make it come down smoothly when the automatically hide the taskbar is on? (ex. not just appearing down, actually slide down with task bar)
this is awesome!

Thanks. I tried to anticipate all possible positions for the taskbar when I was writing it.

This is fantastic, I love it.
One problem though. I'm using ViGlance along with this, and whenever I hover my cursor over the Aero Peek button and make my windows fade out, it makes the buttons on my taskbar (the ones shown via ViGlance) fade behind the taskbar. Then when I take my cursor off the Aero Peek, the buttons come back, but turns my taskbar all black. Here's some screenshots [link]
Any way to fix that? I tried opening the exclusions list, but it doesn't show ViGlance as an open window so I can't add it to the exclusions.

CeIIular In reply to J-Lindo [2012-01-05 21:37:05 +0000 UTC]
Yes one other person had this problem. You need to add ViGlance to the Exclusion List. You can do this by first, opening the settings, opening the Exclusion Manager from there, clicking the 'Add a Window' button, and choosing Viglance from the list, setting a name for it and clicking add. Then save the changes you made and you're done. Hope this helps.

Ah ok I found it. In the Exclusion Manager, it has ViGlance listed as "Running Applications". I set the name as ViGlance and added it, and it's going great now. Might wanna know it's listed as Running Applications though, not ViGlance.
Thanks for the tip! Going great now

well, i just found a problem. With Viglance, after doing aero peek, the background of the taskbar turns black and won't let you click anything. Even after adding it to the exclusion list, this still happens

Good day.
I liked to use your Show Desktop.
But there were two questions.
- How can localize Show Desktop, in particular, to translate into Russian.
- How can you save your Show Desktop, that would not be necessary each time to customize the width, transparency, etc.
P.S. Apologize for my English

Hi,
Thank you for the program it’s very useful in windows XP! But there is a bug: with default settings (Method of showing minimizing windows set to “Toggle Desktop” ) when you click the button and the desktop is shown and you move the mouse pointer over the button, the button disappear. It reappear when to focus a window. This behavior doesn’t exists when Method of showing minimizing windows is set to “Minimize windows”.
Anyway, this is a great program!
Thanks,
Peter (petrecelrau --at-- Yah00 . com)
