Description
Okay, since I get sooooo many people asking me how I do my line art I finally knuckled down and made a tutorialThis is for inking on the computer and, yes, you'll need a tablet to be able to do some of the techniques mentioned in it. I'm not sure how much this will help...being able to ink well is an aquired skill attained through lots and lots of practice. Just like all artwork, you won't be able to do something amazingly just because you read a tutorial on it XD But I hope it helps in some way.
Have fun, kiddos

This was a very helpful tutorial! That's actually one of my biggest problems is my lines being too flat so this really helped!

Thx! This was pretty helpful. My only problem is that my lines always come out a little squigly =S

I have a question. Do all tablets have pressure sensitiviy? I have a tablet and I can;t figure out how to make the lines not plain
π: 0 β©: 1
celesse In reply to Heuring [2012-03-02 03:50:37 +0000 UTC]
They should, but not all programs have it. Perhaps the progam you are using doesn't have pressure sensitivity?

Heuring In reply to celesse [2012-03-02 22:37:23 +0000 UTC]
I don't know. I use Paint Sai and I put it to a point where it had pressure sensitivity and it just didn't work. I don't know if it might be the tablet and I'm not sure on how to check to see if the pressure sensivity is on in the tablet

celesse In reply to Heuring [2012-03-03 00:10:44 +0000 UTC]
Oh, Sai is notorious for having pressure issues. What usually fixes it is if you go into your control panel and open your tablet settings, then delete your tablet presets and reboot.

Do you mean remove prefences? Everything you said I can't find.

celesse In reply to Heuring [2012-03-03 00:49:58 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that's it. Remove preferences.

celesse In reply to Heuring [2012-03-03 02:05:25 +0000 UTC]
Then reboot and open Sai and see if the pressure sensitivity works yet. If it doesn't, try removing the preferences again. If that still doesn't work, I'm afraid I don't know what else to do.

i was wondering can you get as good as a result (drawing and coloring) by using paint? sadly i]my photo-shop program went by by when we moved and disappeared off the hard drive of my pc. i was wondering cause i wanted to start drawing using the pc but i only have paint

celesse In reply to TheBlakKitten [2012-01-22 22:50:19 +0000 UTC]
I'm afraid you can't get smooth lines in Paint since it's pixel-based, and there's no pressure sensitivity in there either if you use a tablet. I'm sure there are other free art programs out there that are better than Paint. Try a Google search?

thanks for the tip! i didn't think there was any free art programs that were free. i haven't even thought of using google to find out

Ciruitry already put my idea. Go to paint.net and you can get a free download of a painting program that's as effective as Photoshop.
