Wow, this is really good!
These restraints are really strict and represent and harsh treatment
The material of her dress seems to "flow", very well done.

Oh yes!
I still remember Naevys! Her stories & the artworks about her were really exciting
But your art is so much better now.

Thanks I'm not trying to boast but I do actually agree. It's simply what practice (and leaving one's comfort zone) does!! It's pretty exciting

That sounds about right! And once everyone is stumbling in drunken stupor, she will likely be called in to partake~ Thanks!

GREAT artworkΒ I love the sinuous drapery and the way it's integrated with the restraints.Β Figure and hair fantastic, very redolent of Ancient Rome.. or indeed Game of Thrones...Β She's obviously not going anywhere with that blindfold and neck chain;Β I guess her duty is to just stand there and hold that jug in case it is required.Β Human furniture indeed!Β No doubt other duties will become important later Β
Β Beautiful drawing!Β Β

Thank you so much!! I'm pretty proud of this one, skill-wise... I'm glad you could pull so much out of this, and I see you likely read the tags, what with the Game of Thrones reference And yes, she has... many duties (;

Β You should be proud of this one;Β I like all your ink-work, but this is really exceptional. Β

Thanks so much!! I actually looked back and compared this one to my first bondagey ink drawing, "Gift Wrapped". The improvement is pretty inkcredible, and especially compared to some of my other earlier ones as well... just from several months ago. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but, I just think it's a testament to what practice does. My IRL friends don't seem to believe me or care. They don't quite grasp that their scrawly drawings aren't a result of low talent, but low skill, because they haven't been seriously drawing for nearly 21 one years like I have (assuming I picked up a pencil fresh out of the womb ). Anyway, practice might not make perfect but it certainly makes progress.

yeah, people have the strange idea that you're either born able to draw, or you'll never be able to do it.Β They don't seem to realize it takes practice, just like learning a musical instrument.Β I've had this argument so many times.Β Somehow people understand it takes thousands of hours to become proficient at violin or archery or chess or any other skill, but when it comes to art in general and drawing in particular, it's like "huh, I'll never be able to do that... and you can only do it because you're a freak."Β No, it's not luck and I'm not a freak (well, I am, but that has nothing to do with drawing)... it's years of practice actually, you know, dedication.. devotion... persistence... those things...
OK rant over Β You go ahead and toot that horn, lolΒ
Β I agree with you, you have made great progress.Β "Inkcredible" as you put it (I see what you did there!)

Hahaha I didn't know if you'd catch the "inkcredible" (don't shoot me). And I agree. For some reason visual art is generally seen as different from other arts and skills, and I'm not sure why. When it comes to the practice it requires, its prestige, and even its monetary value. You don't see people asking for free concerts or meals, why should you be able to use a digital painting for free?

quite so, and yet, here we are, singing our inky little hearts out, for free (except the occasional pat on the back, which actually is quite a nice reward).Β Funny old game, isn't it.Β

Haha absolutely But even further than that, we may be showing our art for free but that doesn't mean we're giving people permission to use it for their own purposes. It peeves me when innocent-meaning people don't realize their hypocrisy and ask artists to use their art for free, either to accompany stories or for promotion or what-have-you. It never hurts to ask but you must be willing to pay if the artist demands and you must make that known, lest you present yourself as underappreciating the artist's time, effort, and piece of their soul. My view, anyway (:

yes, I have had a few "tempting" offers to do a shit ton of work for no money, recently.Β I'm always very polite.Β But I've also had some wonderful paid commissions, and have a few still to complete, so there's all the excuse I need to say no, apart from the general principle of the thing.Β I think part of the problem is that we are just drowning in images these days. Everywhere you look there are images images images. Β The brain is swamped with them.Β Artwork, however personal and original, is bound to lose its currency against that background noise, and the status of the artist comes crashing down.Β Your art, however, speaks to me in a clear voice, audible and distinctive, that cuts through all that. Β

Yes! I will do free requests sometimes (depending on the subject), and like you I still have several to complete so I'm kind of closed to more requests right now. Regardless, that's my personal prerogative and absolutely no one should just expect an artist to do that, or not be insulted by being asked to if they've never indicated that they'd be willing x)
And I agree. It's so easy to find amazing artwork for free, I feel like the only reasonable way anyone is going to pay for art would be to specifically print it on something (like a mug or whatever), or to request a specific subject of their choosing. But the days of an artist creating whatever they want and getting paid for it? Gone, if they ever even existed in the first place. You either create what other people want you to create, or you subsist on selling merchandise versions, or you survive on a different job while doing your hobby for yourself and being okay with being totally unnoticed in the public awareness <3 That's most of us.
Thank you for the compliment, though! I don't imagine my art "speaking" to anyone, because I just do it because I feel it just like most anyone else. But that's very appreciated If it means anything, your art stands out to me, too, both because of your skill and style, and because you draw specific themes that happen to appeal to me!

I've got a fairly strict "close friends only" policy for unpaid requests (and yes, that does include you ) and even then, they must accept they may have to wait months.Β I'm not known for speedy response, maybe the slug avatar fits me better than I'd like to admit.Β As for getting paid, Patreon might be worth a shot, I'm going to try it, anyway.Β Merchandise, lol, can you see people wearing montycrusto t-shirts around your campus?
Β I think they would be arrested.Β That would actually make me kind of happy...Β
Thank you for your appreciative words.Β Believe me, your drawings really do stand out, especially the traditional materials ones (bias bias bias). Good, so we're a mutual appreciation society.Β That's one of the benefits of being here on DA isn't it.Β We lower our lobster pots into the unknown depths, and hope to catch something tasty, and not some nameless horror. Glad I caught you in my lobster pot! Β Mm.. that wasn't my best metaphor.. but whatever

Oh boy, I've got free requests, I'm so special! But haha yeah I know what you mean. It's been a few months since I received my first request aaaaand... I haven't started it yet. But I do let people know that it may take a while and I can't be on a time limit, which I think is fair since it is free. They aren't paying me for my time so therefore my time is a gift and they don't get to dictate it
I can totally see people wearing montycrusto t-shirts. New fashion line, tap into that
It's okay, I like lobster.

I'd totally do a request from you, as long as it was something I could get into and you'd probably have to wait about a year before seeing any resultΒ
Β I think you'll enjoy my forthcoming "Alice Asylum" story, lots of medical restraints and straitjackets, etc...Β But anyway...Β montycrusto t-shirts would be awesome
I might print one up, as a joke, and upload the photo here

And I would love to see a montycrusto t-shirt, lol.
