Her husband directs her along with the gentle push of his hand on her upper arm as he watches to make sure she does not fall.

This reminded me a bit of The Handmaid's Tale; the blue dress made me think of the Wives, and it goes along with the themes of the subjugation of women. Great picture though!

It's a great representation of an R-World evening outfit, probably more appropriate to an opera event, where appreciation of music is not diminished by visual distracfions. I would have preferred her companions hand to be resting gently on her back as a guide, or maybe arm in arm as is generally accepted method of guiding a visually impaired person. The hand around the bicep is more akin to a prisoner being led, and slightly jarred with the theme, bearing in mind that Restraint World, as envisaged by Kevin, was not about subjugating women but giving them equality. The restraints may be mandatory, but historically it was women who chose to make them mandatory in return for equality with men in all other areas. The gag and blindfold would be entirely her choice of attire, in exactly the same way that woman chooses a pair of totally impractical high heels, because they make her feel good and get her partners undivided attention. It is totally the opposite the the world envisaged in the Handmaid's tail.

In the spirit of the original idea of R-World, you're absolutely right and it's nothing like the Handmaid's Tale. However, in the spirit of reality, the original idea doesn't make much sense and it's not wrong to associate thr two. It's hard to have any kind of physical restraint and not associate it with subjugation. Foot binding in China might have been a cultural beauty trend, but it was entirely sexist and oppressive (and harmful). Some even argue today that laws about covering breasts (the example given in the R-World description) is a form of oppression or at least inequality. So yes, in imagination we can absolutely pretend this is all consensual and normal and equal, but the original commenter's gut association wasn't wrong from an objective standpoint
