Ok before you read this or flame me remember that this is MY OWN opinion and I am not in anyway trying to change yours.
I have NOTHING against anime at all, it is not my favorite but I do not hate it, in fact I do enjoy a few animes such as Wolf's Rain, Evangelion, Hellsing, Excel Saga, and a few more. HOWEVER I am SICK and TIRED of people saying "anime is the best!" "I love anime!" "look I can draw anime!" "anime is so original!" when no one is really saying bluntly that anime sucks and that it is not art. and then I go to the front page of DA and see nothing but huge eyed anime girls with balloon like breasts, nipples the size of salami slices, and slutty clothing with the letters "kya" sketched next to it. All these pieces look as if they were drawn by the same person. I am NOT at all saying anime is not a cool style, it is an awesome style if used properly.
You can look through my favorites and see many anime pictures by artists here on DA I enjoy. What bugs me is when people claim their anime has style opposed to any other anime. Anime is a vast area of art, they're cartoons. People who obsess over anime characters as if they were real need to get out more.
I think if more artist stopped looking at pictures of anime girls or whatever that other people drew and just basically tracing it, and began to develop their own style this place and the art community as a whole would be a lot better.
Also this does not by any means mean I enjoy dogs with huge ears, anime eyes, 'kawaii' features, hair, and the cartoon animal style a lot of people share. This stamp focuses on anime but it goes for all art that needs more stylizing.

secondly, (sorry to complain) i dislike the stamp because it makes me feel like wat i draw isnt art or sumthing. like its saying i have no talent ya kno? but i do agree that the slutty looking anime pics annoy the crap out of me and some people do get obsessed...but also people can get mean. i say if you dont like it then dont draw it, dont watch it, problem solved. haha and if you do like it then watch, draw, read, whatever, but dont go overboard and start yelling at random people. i can draw realistic pictures too but i prefer manga because i think its just as hard if not harder to draw and i love the styles. ^-^

hmm, i think Anime is a basic style.
It kinda goes with realistic, photoshots, cartoonist and writing.
All have a base to them to start, but its up to the artist to branch out to create something to call there own.

I'm not making a fuss, it's a stamp. An opinion. It's not like everyday I think about it or obsess over it lol, I made the stamp for people who have the same opinion I do. I do not believe "anime" is a style because "furry" is not a style, everyone within should have their own sub style, for instance, the difference in animation between dragon ball z and evangelion, both animes, but two differen't style. The point of this stamp was that my opinion of most anime artists here on DA need to stop "Tracing" and branch out more.

By that logic there would be no "styles." Everything would simply be a subject based on what the picture was about.
I do agree that people need to branch out. But,everyone with time and practice WILL develop their own style if they want to make something out of it. There's no point in complaining about something that isn't hurting you or anyone else.
Do what you do best, don't worry about what other people are doing. It'll make you a happier person in the long run, trust me.

I agree with you, art is something used to express somthing you think is cool in your own style, and alot of anime artists copy one another and that kills the whole point and the fun from art, for anyone that draws anime; i am not hating on anime and i like some anime's but if your going to draw in that style make it your own , make it original dont do somthing that has been done millions of times already.

I agree that you have every right to express you're opinion. I'm learning how to be an anime artist. It is something that I love. I like to add my own little things to it here and there. I also agree that quite a few anime drawing look the same. I respect that you are brave enough to state your opinion. I'm not really sure where this comment is going so I'll just shut up now.

It is my opinion and I am free to express it, coincidentally it is also the opinion of many others. You did not have to click on this stamp or comment on it, that is not my fault. I am not "meddling" in other people's business, this is a stamp I made that I submitted to my gallery for other people who agree with me to comment on. How hard is that concept to understand?

I compleatly agree with this oppinion. I see everyone who draws in an anime way has no style what-so-ever. I see it EVERYWHERE. It just bugs me that people try to draw in anime instead of there own kind of technique.

also, there are a lot of varieties of anime style.
Sadly: People like to pick famous styles and copy them over and over, which makes it harder to find different styles.
I personally don't copy anyone else's style.

when I started drawing back in... say, fifth grade, the classic anime style was what I used, because it was easier to draw... but now, about three and a half years later, I draw in a completely different style. I still say it's 'anime' style, but it's not really the more classic version. I try to make it original, even if it's not that easy due to there being so many different styles...

It's because anime is actually a very diverse style, and a lot of different styles fit under it's hat.
I personally think Disney art could be classified as "anime", but I know that it isn't.
I don't like trying to classify cartooning past "cartooning".

someone had to speak the truth, and for that i thank you. i feel originality and uniquity are the foundation of art, and when i log on and see the same thing copied over and over, the same character re-re-re-re-re-drawn, i feel sick inside and i start to question the definition of art itself. i feel everyone is capable of finding a great and unique style of their own, if they were to just leave their anime obsessions behind.

I can't stand people who copy popular styles. Like Lucky Star for example, I love the style, I just can't stand the people who copy such a cute style.
Big breasted woman with huge eyes? I have to force myself to draw women with huge eyes(outside of chibis) and boobs.
Most of the people who copy famous styles or use the general style are mostly wannabe mangakas or wannabe asians who ad 'desu'and'kawaii' to every sentence.

I'm a manga artist, I love anime and everything... but sometime it's really annoying... I hate people who only draw anime out of reality. My manga drawings are sometimes pretty realistic, but sometimes not at all. It depends on how I feel, but most of th time, I use realistic.

As an aspiring artist and someone who would like to make a career as an artist in the future I draw mainly from life and pictures. Learning the anatomy of animals and humans has become the focus of my drawings and I look at anime here on dA, I wonder (Seriously, I would like to know. Not trying to be mean here.), where is there a career for someone who draws anime? Who employs these people? Can these people get into an art school without the proper life drawing skills and go on to be a working artist who takes serious commissions? I'm sure they're good at what they do, but how do those skills transfer into a way to make money for people who are serious about art, but only draw anime?

Oh I agree entirely ^-^ I know for a fact that when applying for an art school you have to send in an art portfolio along with your application and if you submit a portfolio that just contains anime drawings... chances are you won't be accepted :/ Harsh but true. Many art schools of today are encouraging their students to be individuals and explore their own styles which is wonderful! And even though some artists who draw anime say that, that's "their style"...it's not :/ sorry. It's "a style" but not "their style".
