Ok before you read this or flame me remember that this is MY OWN opinion and I am not in anyway trying to change yours.
I have NOTHING against anime at all, it is not my favorite but I do not hate it, in fact I do enjoy a few animes such as Wolf's Rain, Evangelion, Hellsing, Excel Saga, and a few more. HOWEVER I am SICK and TIRED of people saying "anime is the best!" "I love anime!" "look I can draw anime!" "anime is so original!" when no one is really saying bluntly that anime sucks and that it is not art. and then I go to the front page of DA and see nothing but huge eyed anime girls with balloon like breasts, nipples the size of salami slices, and slutty clothing with the letters "kya" sketched next to it. All these pieces look as if they were drawn by the same person. I am NOT at all saying anime is not a cool style, it is an awesome style if used properly.
You can look through my favorites and see many anime pictures by artists here on DA I enjoy. What bugs me is when people claim their anime has style opposed to any other anime. Anime is a vast area of art, they're cartoons. People who obsess over anime characters as if they were real need to get out more.
I think if more artist stopped looking at pictures of anime girls or whatever that other people drew and just basically tracing it, and began to develop their own style this place and the art community as a whole would be a lot better.
Also this does not by any means mean I enjoy dogs with huge ears, anime eyes, 'kawaii' features, hair, and the cartoon animal style a lot of people share. This stamp focuses on anime but it goes for all art that needs more stylizing.

i, for one, love anime, but i dont worship it or try to draw like some other artists style. i have seen very good, unique, even realistic anime before, and yet there are the... less fortunate-looking ones that look the same: crappy and slutty. (which, sadly, dominate most anime in this day)

i know wat you mean...i used to draw anime a lot as a kid in 4th grade to 6th grade, but then i started drawing cartoons and other stuff and I liked doing that a whole lot more.
and i do agree with you on all the anime pics everywhere on DA...i don't mind anime, it's just that there is so much of that nowadays and it get pretty annoying

As an aspiring anime artist..or you know artist of anything...I have to agree with what you said. I feel the same way, I think. that anime pictures and art work is often times way too stereotypical. Anime is by far an art. Only if the artist loves to draw it and means every line. The same goes for music. It's only art if it is enjoyed by the creator and having fans of some sort...I believe that an artist can draw anime in their own way, they can develop their own style. I'm trying to become an artist with a unique style. I want people to say "huh, that's weird, I've never seen that before", whether It's because of the story or the artwork of it. the cliche of anime is truly disheartening. It turns off a lot of people. I'm attracted to it no matter how cliche. big boobs, gross, huge eyes, kinda cool, skimpy clothes..ugg hmm..I know what you mean about the kawaii factor of anime and the stupid KYAAAA's but don't worry, man, we anime artists...or you know me..are working on making anime our own and different so that people with your opinions will be able to enjoy our ideas fully! oh yeh.

anime has a lot of different styles.. but people stick with the stupid basic moe anime, which is BIG eyed girls and everyone tries to make it their own.

most people stick with the first because its easier to draw.. I had an art teacher how would fail you if you drew anything even close to anime... Which I thought was wrong, she can't say what IS and ISN'T art.

Gee, I feel this way with japanese music. 0.o I'm sick and tired of hearing crazed people screeching "Oh mah GAWD, (insert name) has such a memorizing voice! They're so hot/cute!". Not all of the artists are great. =/
Anywayz, I understand your message completely. If ANYONE wants to get an inkling of different styles within anime, I suggest y'all look into Katsuhiro Otomo, Nihei Tsutomo, Yoshitaka Amano, Yoshitoshi ABe, Naoki Urasawa, and Takaya.

LOL i know what you mean. i draw anime, and i love anime, but i really hate the "kawaii desu" anime with the giant eyes and huge boobs. its kind of insulting. and creepy. no ones boobs are that big. they would fall over. ._.
but yeah, i agree. anime is all fine and good, but people need to get their own styles instead of ripping off the same thing over and over and over again.

I draw in anime style and I still love it, but I try to make my characters look like individuals. I see a lot of 'artists' who draw 'original characters', but are really just drawing the same character over and over again, except with different outfits and different hairstyles each time.
But there's more to art than anime style, people! I also draw in Western/Disney cartoon style, which I love just as much as anime style, and once I have a pretty firm handle on that, I'll try my hand at Western comic style, which should be a lot of fun

even though anime is art, too many people try to imitate the style, its not unique or creative much anymore. i mean, a bunch of people draw the same crap all the time, big breasted "neko" school girls with panty shots and eyes that cover 2/3 of their face. im so sick of that shit. not only is it highly overrated, its also unoriginal.
i also draw anime, but i try to make it look more "realistic" but its still anime. i also want to learn how to draw Marvel and Realism.

I draw anime a lot, but I at least think, that my style of it looks different than others do. I personally don't always like the extremely large eyes. Some of them look nice,but some are just too extreme.
There's also certain anime styles where I swear they take the same face, and just stamp different hair on it. It drives me insane. You can draw anime, but make your own style, and try not to copy someone elses style of it.
I greatly enjoy well drawn realism, but I myself simply can't draw it...:/ So anime style that has some realism to it is beautiful to me. Like Kaori Yuki, and others.

Yes, I tried anime style sometimes, and still do it, but I also try other styles, like cartoons, realistic, illustration, the list goes on. I would love to be an artist of many styles.

In Japan, Anime is defined as any genre of animation. Therefore, you are telling us to draw realistic drawings? Well, um... some can't.... if you didn't know that. Many people don't have the ability to draw realism.

I drew in a style that can be considered animesque when I was 6 and didn't even know what anime was. I do agree that the Anime is the best and Look I can draw anime people do need to get out more or do more research.

I agree with you a lot. I LOVE anime but other art is great too. I'm not being rude, I'm just saying that if you don't want to be spammed and flamed, son't post stuff like this. And for some people ((like me)) anime is the only thing i can draw that doesn't look like my five year old cat didn't pee on it. Either way, I do kind of agree with you.
