Edit:I NEVER SAID IN HERE THAT ANIME IS NOT ART, PLEASE STOP SPAMMING MY FRONT PAGE AND SENDING ME NOTES, ALL YOU'RE DOING IS MAKING YOURSELF LOOK LIKE A DUMB ASS BECAUSE I LAUGH AND CLICK THE X BUTTON EVERY TIME I SEE ONE, YOU ARE NOT EFFECTING ME WHAT SO EVER SO GIVE IT UP.Read the description before you comment and make yourself look stupid.
Comments now enabled because I'm sick of my page being spammed with comments I could care less to read, realize that you posting a comment here does not mean I will read it or respond, I will likely not do either of the two.
Ok before you read this or flame me remember that this is MY OWN opinion and I am not in anyway trying to change yours.
I have NOTHING against anime at all, it is not my favorite but I do not hate it, in fact I do enjoy a few animes such as Wolf's Rain, Evangelion, Hellsing, Excel Saga, and a few more. HOWEVER I am SICK and TIRED of people saying "anime is the best!" "I love anime!" "look I can draw anime!" "anime is so original!" when no one is really saying bluntly that anime sucks and that it is not art. and then I go to the front page of DA and see nothing but huge eyed anime girls with balloon like breasts, nipples the size of salami slices, and slutty clothing with the letters "kya" sketched next to it. All these pieces look as if they were drawn by the same person. I am NOT at all saying anime is not a cool style, it is an awesome style if used properly.
You can look through my favorites and see many anime pictures by artists here on DA I enjoy. What bugs me is when people claim their anime has style opposed to any other anime. Anime is a vast area of art, they're cartoons. People who obsess over anime characters as if they were real need to get out more.
I think if more artist stopped looking at pictures of anime girls or whatever that other people drew and just basically tracing it, and began to develop their own style this place and the art community as a whole would be a lot better.
Also this does not by any means mean I enjoy dogs with huge ears, anime eyes, 'kawaii' features, hair, and the cartoon animal style a lot of people share. This stamp focuses on anime but it goes for all art that needs more stylizing.

I have to agree with you, generic anime is not cool and copying pictures is not art. I try to find a happy medium between east and west. I don't know if it works but I try.

by your logic, drawing lion king isn't art either dude, get off your high horse that disney provided and shut the hell up. Any drawing is art because someone put their creativity into it, no matter how little effort it took. No matter how little originality is put into it. Everything created by humans and their desire to express their idea, or show an image from their imagination is art. So stop bitching and get on with your life, your wasting your damn time doing this

My God........you my friend have materialized my own views about this. Though I do enjoy some anime I don't think it would kill everyone if these people would just try something fresh and different and grow out of their "anime safe-zone". Seriously, I'm straight up tired of seeing the same KAWAII crap over and over. It's not bad but it's in dire need of a thing called variety.
Great stamp! Totally faved

Artists should be allowed to draw what they want. Anime is a style, and it's not really the artist's fault if their style looks exactly like somebody else's.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. I agree that too many people are plagiarizing anime styles, rather than developing their own. But anime in it's self is still an art style. It's like a mixture between cartoons and realism. Which in my opinion is very stylized. I just think it depends on how you go about developing your own unique style of anime rather than copying a popular style from a manga or an anime.

One more thing, rainbow wolves and furries aren't exactly a unique and original style either. So how bout taking some of your own advice rather than bashing the thousands of users here on dA who do have an anime-like style and work on your own.

I draw anime style yet I agree with this, I don't have anything against the style because for me, it's the easiest to draw but the thing with salami sliced nipples made me lol'd xD hahaha.
But you should have pointed out the worse points of anime being too over-dramatic and cliched. There's never a good joke in anime aside from characters acting like idiots.

I agree, especially with:

Personally, I like to try many different styles of art, particulary ones that are more (for the lack of a better word) 'realistic.'

What I like about anime is that it varies between almost-real and OMG OOBER KAWAEE DESS-OO, so you can morph it into your own unique style. I usually stay in the middle as far as realism goes, but when I get bored I just try to draw either the cutest thing I can think of, or the closest to real life. It helps get the juices flowing again :3

XD;
the sad part is that i started off with drawing in anime style.
now i don't think it's bad, with practice some people make it more than just anime, it looks nice, with the shading, details and such, others just draw it for more fav's cause most people here like anime art.
:C
but now that i realize it, ALOT of people draw it around here, and there's no way i'll get noticed with the same style, so i am trying to make it into a more realism type of anime style, so atleast it's not going to be a piece that says 'pooh look how kawaai desu i am fav me~'
XD;;
if you like anime style, you should incorporate it into another style you also like, and mix them, making your own, not try to copy other famous mangaka's and such.

I cant really explain it... but sence I was 5 years old I've been trying to find out a style I was interested in, and than when I became 11 I just completely fell in love with anime, its what I've been wanting to draw my whole life...and I'm sorta blending it with my own natural style to create my own anime style...
but I do agree, theres ALOOOOT of people out there that get interested in drawing it, and have NO style what so ever... they draw it cause they
like to watch anime
or there friends got them interested....
>.> those are the people that just do re-colors or use bases and grow out of anime....
the good artists have a passion for it....

Anime can be quite beautiful, and is perfectly capable of being an excellent style, but so many people give it an awful reputation with the drawings that are nothing but 'huge eyed anime girls with balloon like breasts, nipples the size of salami slices, and slutty clothing with the letters "kya" sketched next to it.' as you very accurately stated.

Anime is a kind of style, but I don't think it's a very good style. For one, some anime drawings have such huge and empty eyes they actually make me scared, and it also bothers me that they always try to be so "kawaii" and sickeningly cute when (at least in my opinion) it isn't cute at all, just kind of creepy-looking.

I have a lot of respect for you for making this. I myself like several different anime, but it itself is simply a medium, and its hard to praise or criticize it. It's like saying "books are awesome" or "movies are awesome". Each one is different, and there's a lot of it, so its hard to say something like that. Anyway, I am annoyed at people copying generic anime styles and not making their own styles. Anime can be creative, but only if you make your own style within it.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU. I'm glad somebody has finally spoken out and said this. I'm such a hypocrite because I am extremely unoriginal and I don't have my style yet bawww
I've being trying to find 'my style' for a long time now, because it would just seem to make peoples art so much more original, and there is anime everywhere I look now. But I fail and I can't draw because I have art block. I've tried to base my art off of anime deliberately copy everything from Naruto (Oh God why) and then I pretty much just worked my way from there. I don't like my style though. I still want to have it more...personalized.
ANYWAYS I NEED TO STOP RANTING D< I love this stamp a lot, thank you for making it.

It's true that many people enjoy drawing anime style and should probably try creating their own styles, but the thing is anime is what inspires lots of people to start drawing in the first place, and they copy the style because they like it. After a while it's hard to try changing your style because you get so used to it, and originality can be very hard to come by. And I'm not just saying this because I currently use anime as my style, too, because I'm trying to change it and draw more realistically, but it takes time.

yeah, i realized a lot of similar things about anime.
it's great if you do it right, but if you can't then all of the people look the same.
which is why i stopped drawing anime. i couldn't pull it off, so i started drawing a cartoon style that allowed me to create a cast of characters who each had their own unique features.
as a whole, drawing a cartoon style gave me much more freedom and creativity that i didn't see while drawing anime.
