Β© Coral McBride --- Do not alter or use without my permission. This is the first of three artworks that I had no intention of finishing and uploading to my gallery but am now doing so because I made an agreement with that each of us would submit an artwork that we decided to leave on our hard disk for various reasons.
Hands Of Time: One of the following or similar situation has or is happening to you:
You can either go forward in time or backwards in time but as with most quick fixes, there are positives and negatives.
Would you still take the chance and travel through time?

Ooh, the image is a lot cooler after reading the description is the girl supposed to be someone who is debating using the power of time travel?

Yes She has made unwise choices and by moving the hands back to a time before she made those decision, she is hoping to avoid doing it again and change the life she is now living, which is a consquence of those choices.
If you have read the description you and she both know that this may not work and that she may make exactly the same decisions again and therefore suffer the same consequences or even worse but then again there is the possibility that she make make wiser choices this time.
Time travel is not an exact science As a matter of fact recent experiments with photonss seem to indicate that time travel is not a possibility but those of us who have made unwise choices live in hope

Great work once again Coral! I'm just looking at it all. Quite a choice to make... not sure what I would do, hehe. They say there is no such thing as time really and theoretically people wonder if that is really possible --what you proposed. I'm just happy to view your art

Thank you sweetie Time is only a perception and clocks only exist so that we can define it. I believe Einstein said that time is not universal and perception is influenced by motion. I recently read that it doesn't exist at a quantum level for photons travelling at the speed of light. I may have interpreted this incorrectly because I read it after 5:00am and haven't had time to read it again. My perception of time is that there is never enough of it and is it doesn't actually exist, there never will be

We all have artwork that we never finish and we all have many reasons for not doing so.
Love your concept and description

in the hands of time a child changes into a beautiful woman...and a beautiful woman becomes an old lady...
My interpretation: the woman is trying to stop the time and remain as she is before the time will slip through her fingers and make her beauty fade away...

awesome concept and colour scheme. I was intrigued to see it the moment I saw the thumb in someone's journal...
The only weak point imho might be her hair. It seems to be a little bit too flat to me. That would be awesome if you could try to create the feeling of movement, for example some wisps could be blown through...
It's a rather minor detail, as the rest is splendid. The colours, lighting (especially on her hand ), the way you put some textures on it... Also I can't help but keep staring at her dress and the way you blended it with the background. Good job!
Btw I found your artist's comment very interesting. I'd always say that there are many things I'd like to change if I had the chance to go back in time. Currently I'm dreaming of going quickly through my university course and waking up at the end of it... Well, perhaps it tells a lot about me, namely that I live rather in the past or future and avoid present moment, not using the possibilities it gives me.
You achieved one important thing with your work; I believe that I'll remember it and your description and come back to it many, many times to think a little bit more about the time...

Thank you very much for the lovely critique. I agree about the hair and it is one I will definitely redo in the near future. The numbers. rings and cloud texture took so much time and patience with a dying monitor, which is very dark with 3 vertical shadows (which will be replaced along with a new computer at Christmas) that I couldn't stand to look at it a minute longer. Having said that, I have major problems painting hair although I think I am improving....albeit extremely slowly.
I often think about going back in time although logic dictates that my genetic makeup and personality being what it was then, and without hindsight, I would probably make exactly the same mistakes again. Going forward is very appealing at times to avoid pain, stress, heartbreak or bereavement. Some would disagree with this hypothesis with "What does not kill you can only make you stronger", which I completely disagree with as I believe that it may not kill you but it can certainly take away from what you could become.
Going quickly through a Uni course and/or waking up at the end of it would probably be a everybody's wish. Assignments and exams are not my idea of fun and better behind than ahead and I wish you good luck.

sorry for my late reply...
anyway, it's really interesting what you wrote, thanks for taking time and elaborating a little bit more on the topic.
When it comes to my comment - you're very welcome
I'd also like to wish you all the best, I hope you'll get that new monitor soon
Btw, Merry Christmas!
