Description I'm having problem uploading this like usual.. goddamn DA is being a useless bitch lately grrness

Well I had a *lot* of people ask me how to make the dress from [link] so I decided to make a little visual tutorial on how I did it. I'm sure there are probably other ways and better ways but this is how I did it. The image is pretty big and you can't read the text unless you full view it.

NOTE: You can use *any* pattern or design to do this.. what I used is just a sample.

If you use it to make something I'd love it if you'd send me the link for it

If you want to see the finished image here it is: [link]

Wow. ^^ Eh, I might need to reconfigure the way I use photoshop, since I hardly ever use tutorials or manuals and just go whichever way..

Thanks!

these ones came from the net, You can pretty well use anything to make a pattern, any sort of image and just tile it and stuff. THanks for the nice comment

rare124 [2004-01-19 11:08:47 +0000 UTC]

Thankyou!!!!!

It can be done with photoshop 6 too right?

actually, what i dont get is, how shading in plain helps. the final shading in pattern?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cfraser In reply to rare124 [2004-01-19 14:56:21 +0000 UTC]

never tried it with ps 6 but I'm sure it will work the same

The reason that you shade first just normally and then lay the pattern of top is this: When you shade first it sets everythign up for the pattern. When you initially lay the pattern over top, you can't see the shading below. However, once you change the layer type to multipy or what not, it allows the shading beneath to show through, darkening the pattern and showing the shading in all the appropriate places.

I mean, this is only how I do it though. Ther are lots of different ways. If you want to see what I mean jsut grab any of cg that you have laying around and layer a pattern over top of it then change the layer type to multiply. You'll see what the shading below shows through the pattern

Ohkay, thankies! I guess using the colour burn and dodge tool would mess up the pattern... any specific place u go for patterns?

p.s, glad u liked endless
