I didn't get the plant one (v probably because I'm a beginner), could you explain to me why there's light on the bottom back side of the leaf? Is it because the upper part just cast a shadow over the middle part? Thanks, and thank you for the tutorials!

The plant is a thing of beauty, but both faces fail to recognise the shape in 3D, the distance of the objects and how the shadow is cast- especially in relation to the distance of the light source, to the shape and then surface the shadow is casted on. Β to the point that realistic lady is pretty much a painting on the wall. Amazingly executed, true, but lacking as the teaching material.

Wouldn't the shadow be tweaked by the volume of the face ? It's not a critique, I just wanna know how it works ... Β Β

It would to an extent. Lana's is a bit off and the shadow lines should be placed slightly differently but in terms of the shadow falling on the faces, it is less about the forms of the face casting shadows and more on the obstructions casting the shadow upon the face, giving that almost sharp shadow line.
