Tutorial: Painting A Rain Scene

Blake: This tutorial will cover the the effect of wetness on lighting, demonstrated on a matte painting of a rainy environment.
I cover some basics in matte painting such as cutting out different photos and collaging them, as well as separating and molding them with painting. I also go into the theory and the painting techniques you should know when creating a raining scene, explaining how to tackle lighting.
An important feature to keep in mind is that wet objects hit by lighting become light sources creating their own reflections.
I also explain how light sources act with depth in rain and the amount of moisture in the air. I also cover the photoshop tools you can use to add water effects and the matte painting techniques to blend them seamlessly into the scene.
