Description
Here's my interpretation of a Galactus type of creature. He moves from solar system to solar system gathering suns. The heat helps warm his freezing insides. Image took about 5-6 hours.Related content

Thanks, ZBrush is actually suuuuper fast at rendering. the figure probably took ~1-2 minutes to render.

Solar Colossus reminds me of Atlas, except SC is carrying the sun on his shoulders instead of the Earth.

Cool concept! I like how you showed his insides through his eyes and chest, and how bulky he is, like Atlas. The right size to carry a sun like it weights so little. What programs do you use to make stuff like this?

I've always loved that quality of 3D. I believe that "typically", airbrushed art has greater emotive qualities but sometimes lacks in detailed sharpness. That's what 3D's fanbase appreciates, and I'm trying my best to mix in the best traits of 2D.
Many 2D artists criticize using 3D because it takes longer to setup and is more difficult to change. With the advent of new, more user friendly programs, I believe that will become less and less of an excuse if the 3D artist is well rounded in photomanip and drawing skills. (i.e. modeling basic geometry, basic texturing, render out, critique from boss, implement changes using photomanip, done!)

Sounds like you have a well rounded opinion. I'd say 3D isn't well received by everyone because it's a further and further departure from traditional. Sometimes leaps like that change people's opinions.

Wow. A stunning piece. The concept itself is great, and you've done a brilliant idea justice. I love the colours, espeically that glowing blue, and the angle and perspective of the piece. No critique here, just keep it up!
