Finally finished the sketches/first designs of the flock! (doesn't mean i'm not eventually going to draw other pixar/dreamworks/disney characters as birdkids)Anyway so proud of this and so happy with it! You won't even believe the time i put into this sketch, Hiccup and Toothless were so hard to try and get right... QnQ But i'm happy.
Anyway Hiccup is part Tawny Owl and the youngest of the older part of the flock. He's also sort of the brains in their flock and loves animals, specially reptiles. He also enjoys stories of dragons and Vikings. He lost his leg when he was a few years younger due to an experiment that went wrong and then infection setting in, to save him they amputated his leg. He's still not entirely over it but he makes due and tinkers with the fake leg when he gets the time.
He got the fake leg right after they escaped, they were helped by someone unnamed who found it from charity, so it doesn't fit perfectly and he walks with a limp.
They found Toothless while they were escaping(the original flock has Total, this flock has Toothless), and he decided to keep him. They're not entirely sure what Toothless is, but he's some kind of lizard bat hybrid. (he doesn't talk)
And finally i used a ref by Kate-FoX for the pose.

^^ aww i'm really glad you like. XD he was fun to design actually, the others i sort of stayed too close t othe original looks so kind of boring. And yeah Owls are the best. XD they're so cute and wise looking.

Hiccup needs his toothless. XD Also in the books the au/crossover is based off of the flock there has a talking dog, so i figured a grumpy toothless would be okay.

That's okay, and it's not like there's anything too different with your style... It's just, it's not like the usual generic anime style like most of us have. It kinda has this unique cartoony feel to it that's yours. I just like it!83

XD awww, thank you dear! They're really fun to draw and i've learned so much since i started these(that's why they start hella sketchy with Venellope and end in this with Hic) I plan on making another flock as well, with Elsa, Anna, Russel(from up), possibly Eep and Guy(from the Croods), Violet(the Incredibles) and other characters i believe would be fun to draw. XD Like Eep's already a lion hybrid in my mind, still deciding if i want to add bird to that.
Ahaha you're a Jelsa fan i take it? XD I think it's an adorable pairing but i'm trying to stay away from pairings with fanart i draw, just safer that way. @_@ the fans can be brutal.

Oh I almost didn't even notice his leg Awesome job, if I may ask what art program do you use for your wing work, and of any kind of special brushes. I love how you can make feathers flow into each other so smoothly, it's amazing really.

XD; yeah... i couldn't find a modern version of Hic's leg(that wasn't some high-tech running leg) and wanted to make it something easily found, so i decided on the prosthetic that had a foot but minimal extras to make it look like a leg to keep that whole amputated look. QuQ; if that makes sense to anyone besides me. But thank you so much dear!
Um well i use Sai, painttool sai, it's a really nice program to use since it makes the lines all smooth and photoshop's expensive. I just use the normal marker tool(i think that's what it's called, it's under the ink one) and just play around with the settings until it gives me a sharp point and fades out sort of, but i think it comes out pretty much like that. XD but thank you! It's really sloppy and fast to be honest, since these are just sketches so to speak, i might use this type of colouring when i do the final versions, i'm not sure yet, not even sure if i'm gonna make final versions. XD so much work. Anyway i hope i helped or explained it right.

Yeah I have Sai but only used it for Line Art once, I more commonly use SketchBook Pro, which I find few people do use. I need to play around with Sai more

oooh, ahah i used to only use it for lineart but got lazy so i started colouring in it as well. XD it's really fun and fits me better. I've heard of sketchbook but i don't know where to get it/how to get it, and if it costs money i doubt i'd ever use it. XD
