Description
Some of these models are appearing in my Zion dock model. This is still a work in progress as the total number of hovercrafts will be 20 and of course they'll all get a texture.Related content

Hi! Just wanted to ask if your work still continues, will you finish this one? Maybe with beautyshots of each individual ship? I am a very big fan of the Matrix hoverships and I was saddened that we never got to see them in battle in "Reloaded", disappointed that they were just unceremoniously killed offscreen. I am especially interested in if you will be adding the cool-looking Vishnu? I hope you don't lose motivation!
Also, did you know there is an as yet unnamed ship parked right next to the Nebuchadnezzar in the Reloaded landing scene, and we never get to see it proper during Morpheus', Trinity's, and Neo's disembarking, because it is sitting too close? The only other ships we see are on the other side of the dock.

I emailed George Hull himself about the identity of this ship, but he said he had no idea which one it was. It has to be one of the ones he never signed a name on in the concept art, so the Gnosis maybe.

Hey I imagine at one point I'll come back to this and try to finish it, but it'll probably be quite a while. I'm also working on creating my own game as well as a Total War like 3d map of the world of Avatar: The last Airbender. Plus I had planned on making 20 hovercrafts and I usually prefer to model everything first before I start texturing. I also have the dock modelled and I would love to someday see that completed with the hovercraft so yeah; someday I'll finish it all.
And I have the Zion Archives which showed a lot of concepts and even pre-rendered CGI stuff so I know most of the final designs that were used. There was also an official concept art piece of the dock with hovercraft. Those ships are eventually also in the exact same location in the movie; so for me its safe to say that that mystery ship is also on there and it's design can be better identified.
I'll eventually have all the original ones from the movie as well as a couple of fanmade designs. Last ships I was working on was the Ganesha and the Vigilant. They're about halfway done.

No problem, good luck with the game and looking forward to future progress with the dock! Could you please tell me how you got hold of "Zion Archives"? This is very personal to me, I love the designs of these ships and I have been irritated as hell over the years that half of the ships have only been shown from the front, especially the Ganesha. Also, I've been irritated that three ships in the "Reloaded" dock scene are unidentified to me, including "Mystery"-ship. It looks like it had those big round air-intakes on either side of its cockpit, like an Mi-24 Hind helicopter has over its cockpit. Aesthetic ship designs like that are like ice cream to me.
I would be greatly in your debt if you could share the images you have found of these ships? I was heartbroken when I emailed George Hull and he showed no intention of shedding any light on any of it. I have a gmail-adress (aoleonnimrod@gmail.com), or if you prefer some other way of sending files?

Wow, thank you so much! Where did these come from? Was it some extramaterial from a Bluray, or part of a design book about the movie?

Hi,
I have a video that explores the Vigilant a lot more, but i can't comment it since this page says it's spam. Can you please find a way for me to send a link to you?

Oh! Very interesting. I believe you can send links in personal messages. If not, add spaces between the www and .com Think that should work.

Oh cool! Thanks. It's a shame the vigilant model is shows so briefly, but it's something A lot of the models first seen models are included on the Zion Archives.

I can name at least 6 of these ships.
Novalis, Nebuchadnezzar, Icarus, Mjolnir (AKA Hammer), the Osiris and The Logos. Β

Then you've missed the Gnosis, Caduceus, Prometheus and the Polaris. Not included in this picture, but currently done are the Brahma, Vigilant and Ganesha.

Unfortunately I don't know which ones those ships are.
The ones I could name I'm most familiar with 'cause I've seen original concept art of them. And in the Osiris' case I totally love Final flight of the Osiris.
The Ganesha I'm familiar with however. Never really seen much of the Vigilant except of what few shots you see of it in the movie.
If you don't mind my asking,
Which one is the Gnosis, Caduceus, Prometheus and Polaris?Β

The Ganesha was also in the movie, but only in one or two shots. But I managed to track down it's modeler and he was so kind as to give me a more detailed shot. The Vigilant was included in the bonus blu-ray's Zion Archive so that gave me some decent shots of it.
The Prometheus is the one on the top right, and it was inspired by the art picture of Zion's dock. The Gnosis is to the left of that. She's basically a heavier and fatter Novalis.
The Caduceus is the one on the far right in the middle of the image. She's short and fast was inspired by an image of a lego model someone created.
The Polaris is the one model I'm still not happy with and will probably get replaced. It's the one on the top a little to the left. It was inspired by an image I found online, and while it's not a bad design, I just don't feel it really fits with the others.

Hi again,
do you have a good image of the Ganesha so that I can post it on the Matrix Wikia?
Thanks,
Cap

The Ganesha is still WiP. I do have some reference material, but it's only small images or a model.

Coolness thanks much ^_^
I've actually got a model of the Novalis.

Had it custom made by a guy called Alfred Wong. And all we had was the concept art for it.
Was not cheep, let me tell you.

This begs the question, exactly how much of the concept behind the electrically propelled hovercraft is copyright, and how much is fair use?Β

Same here, I was fortunate enough to find the Zion Archive online. It contains a lot of good images of the models that I could use for reference material while building these.
