I tried something different today. I drew this image up in flash. Drawing in vector format is definitely different from what I am used to, its is very off-putting at first, I really need to explore different work flows in vector images and try to refine this further. As I've said before, Final Fantasy 4 is my favorite fantasy. This design is really a combination of inspiration from Yoshitaka Amano and Testuya Nomura's interpretations. Then of course chibified.

I think for this one it was just a matter of adding a couple of key details, like the straps on the shoulders and the kneepads and such. All in all this is not one of the most detailed drawings I have done, in fact I wanted to keep it relatively simple too see if I could animate it in flash.

Yeah those 16 bit games always had cool colorful characters, they are fun to draw.

Thank you. It was a challenge trying to figure out how to add nice looking detail and still keep the design simple and clean for something like animation.
