Description
Oops, I forgot to mention. The ears WILL spring back up when you let go. I abused my first set of ears and they're still fine, so don't worry too much about it.Quick, easy, inexpensive and looks great. My photos don't really do it justice, sorry, so they might look a little messy. Irl they look fine, though.
Fishing wire is stronger so it's good, but I think clear thread shows up less. It's really more about what you have lying around at home xD
Edit: Fishing wire is definitely better, clear thread snaps after a while xD But it's easy to replace so it's still about whatever you have lying around

I haven't tried that, but I'm sure there are ways you could modify it to stick to hairclips haha
I used safety pins because they help keep the ears on when you move them haha

Try alligator clips or bobby pins instead of safety pins (any small clips that would hold really well to his hair)? XD Or If you don't mind it showing, try a head band that matches his hair colour?

Hea-and-Skailer [2011-05-25 10:39:49 +0000 UTC]
Question! What thickness of craft foam did you use? Did you use a thicker variety or just a thin one? I have some thinner craft foam and it doesn't like to spring up quite so well :c or I might just have a crappy brand of foam or something...

The foam used was quite thin, we got it at Dollarama and they do sell some at Walmart too~

I love the tutorial It is very helpful.
I personally do not like fabric glue very much
Do you think I could just use stitching for some of it and get the same effect?
Or would that be too difficult...?
I've never really done anything like this before, and it's really frustrating!
If it's ok if I ask, how would you suggest making panda ears like these?? It's a Christmas present for a friend.
Last year I was determined to make beanies with cat ears attached to them for friends, and I gave up
Hopefully I'll stick to this!

Stitching should be fine, too. I can't see why it wouldn't work xD
Umm panda ears like this... Hmm... I suppose you'd use half circles rather than triangles, and there shouldn't be as much depth. That might look more panda-y? I'm not totally sure, though, I'd have to make some xD
Good luck! I hope it goes well :3

hey i was just wondering will the foam still spring back to form if the ears are say half the size of yours?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
chameleoncosplayteam In reply to boxet [2010-09-04 23:30:34 +0000 UTC]
Hm... I think they probably still would. I think the way the fur and foam is cut helps it keep its shape, so size probably doesn't matter

Most fabric stores should have fur, but the cost changes depending on which store
This was a remnant from Walmart, haha

I hope that helps xD;

xD Well, I guess craft stores or just any fabric stores might have it
I think you can also dye fur with the sharpie technique if you buy white fur

How much of the fur fabric did you have left after making one? o_o;
I'm planning on making 3 pairs, would there be enough to make another pair, or should I buy more?
Thanks for the awesome tutorial!~
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
chameleoncosplayteam In reply to Saikie [2010-07-19 23:13:59 +0000 UTC]
Hm... I actually had more than 1/3m of fabric because I still needed to make a huge tail. The best way to figure out how much you need is cut the foam triangle, then approximate about half an inch extra on every side.
I think you might need a little more...1/3 should probably make two pairs?
You're welcomee
