Description It's been awhile since I finished up a cutesy little picture solely for myself, and I've been wanting to draw Ben and Charlotte doing things as a couple for quite some time now

This is the result of an idea I've had in my head for quite a bit. I always like to picture Ben and Charlotte as kind of an old-fashioned couple. They've been together for a long time and they like to go out and do cute little things just between the two of them, like going out bowling or having a nice time at the local ice cream shoppe. I picture Motown songs from the 70s playing from the jukebox as they have their fun... I think that means that I watched far too many episodes of 'Happy Days' and read way too much 'Archie'.

I'm pretty happy with this picture overall! Aside from getting to show the size difference between Ben and Charlotte and work on a soft, love-dovey scene, I also tried some different things to help the shading and color look a little smoother. It's far from perfect and I really need to study up on a few more shading tutorials, but the lighting feels pretty nice to me so far. The one that I'm still on the fence about, oddly enough, is the framing of the picture. I actually have a different version where I cut off about 15% from the top and the bottom of the image. I feel like it makes it a little tighter, but it also creates an odd size and might venture into the claustrophobic.

Regardless, I wanted to give you guys a full picture here I hope that you all enjoy it and that it inspires some romantic thoughts of your own.

Watching "far too many" Happy Days episodes and reading "way too much" Archie sounds great.

Oh, so Charlotte and Ben are a couple? New to me, but not shocking seeing how they make such an adorable pair! Best wishes for the lovebirds then! And I can identify myself with the whole shading and framing issue. I don't do much shading, tho, but I'm often leaving a few details of the pic off image that rather bothers me, specially when it's a body part.

Excellent pic, man! So sweet!

Glad that you enjoy it As I've said, I don't draw them together nearly enough, so I'm glad that I got to show this!

This is indeed very adorable. Although I don't imagine a Motown song to be playing on the jukebox. I imagine this one:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBdSqk…

Or this one:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgCk3b…

Or potentially this one:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZThquH…

But besides that, this is a rather sweet pic.

Thanks very much, Chu Also thanks for calling out the songs. Those all fit! ... except for the third one I think ya kind of lost me on that one.

It's a badly-memetic song, and that is my only reason for saying it.

Aww, a very adorable pic with a nice color motif to it. Very nicely done, Cham.

Thank you very much, Chaos I have to admit, though, I didn't really set a color motif for this one. So, if there seems to be any motif going on, it was completely unintentional!

Woooo! Hart art!
Wasn't familiar with the character Charlotte. She has a neat fur pattern.
On the shading, you did really well for Charlotte (near perfect, in fact) and almost as good on Ben. The important thing is the faces since that is where people will be looking for the most part. You've got the expressions on their faces just right, so the picture as a whole benefits and becomes a relaxing atmosphere.
Using colored lines is something I used to experiment with (Look up Lendin in my gallery some time), but the way you use it feels much more like real cartoons. That said, I feel I should point out to you that you broke from it on Ben's sleeve, right at the bright yellow you have black liines, so it draws my eye to it. Not a huge deal, but enough to slightly disrupt the pic.

Overall a good pic from you and I hope you do more pics for you! I miss seeing your creations!

Heh, I don't show off Charlotte TOO often, it's true She can be a very sweet bunny! Also, that's not her fur pattern, really. She dyes her fur to showcase her personality a bit more.
Thank you SO very much for the compliment on the faces and expressions! I worry so much about getting those right, so it's a wonderful feeling when somebody tells me that I've done well with them I really wanted this to be relaxing and romantic, so I'm extremely glad that it worked!
I used to use colored lines back when I did everything in Adobe Illustrator, but I've gone away from that ever since focusing on Photoshop. I haven't done something like this in awhile, but I really wanted to make the picture look softer, so I thought I'd try it out. I'm glad you noticed! Also, thank you for the advice on fixing up Ben's sleeve. I honestly wasn't entirely sure what to do with it since it's sort of white-ish, and I didn't want the outlines to look really weird. I took your advice on it and fixed it, though! Hopefully that looks a little more natural now

Thank you again so very much! I'll certainly try to get more art done in the future and share it rather than sitting on it like I do.

The fix worked wonders! I don't know if you see it, but I sure do! Good job!
Glad I could lift your spirits. But hey, look at all the comments! You definitely did something right with this pic.
