Description Bet ya don't see that every day

This is a crossover piece with Donovan, the skunk character I've been working out in my scraps, and Shelly, a character from . Shelly is a seabear, one of a race of marine-dwelling bears that can live above and below the water, much like a mermaid, but with legs... and fur and such. Shelly is also a princess of an underwater kingdom, but methinks she's taking a break from being royal here.

The 'story' of this picture is pretty straight forward. Donovan sees a girl seemingly fall into a deep part of the lake and he rushes to her aid only to find that she's doing rather fine and she even has a tail like a fish! Shelly is excited at seeing the new friendly face and is probably looking forward to getting to know him and see just how good a swimmer the skunk is

This piece was a lot of fun to do, and I'm mostly happy with it, though the lines feel way too thick for my liking. I feel like I'm missing 'something', and I can never put a finger to it... I do know that I want a better color scheme for Donovan. He seems much too plain right now.

Hope you all enjoy and happy April!

I love the story behind the pic. Very cute and a likely story! Love the poses and expressions. ^.^ The pic very much conveys what you were going for. Heh... of course, I don't see the lines as too thick, considering I tend to go even thicker, but to each his own.

I forget which 2 I was gonna do... was it Rick and Emmy? Anyway, I'll try to get on that today. Meanwhile, thanks much for this pic. Shelly was meant to be portrayed as having fun and making new friends. I wonder how Donovan feels. His good intentions may not have been needed, but they still led him to a new friend!

I find the comments interesting as nobody has made those thoughts on Shelly before.

Wow! Thanks for the detailed comment I love it when you do those.

As for Donovan's feelings on the matter, I think surprise is the initial one But he'll also be simply fascinated by the idea of seabears and really be curious to learn more and see what they're like. And, yes, he's very thankful the friendly face! New companions are always something that he cherishes.

For your end, I'm quite certain you were going to do BH and Emmy, because you asked me for Ben's height

Wow, that's...really cool! Kinda reminds me of Avatar: The Last Airbender and how they fused different animal concepts, like platypus-bear or possum-chicken or badger-mole...or bear.

I might be exaggerating, and I knew bears swam, but this is actually a new one on me. Makes me think of that Jolly Roger Bay music...

Awesome pic man. And happy belated birthday.

Thanks for the belated birthday wish, bud

I still need to watch Avatar: Last Airbender... I'm told it's fantastic by everybody that I know. However... they actually mix something with a platypus? I always considered THAT to be the ultimate mix of animals already

I hadn't even thought of Banjo and Kazooie, though Wonderful memory right there, and very apt. Definitely check out Tim's page, though, if you want more of Shelly and the seabears. It's actually really inventive

You're welcome.

You haven't watched it yet? You'd love the scenery in that. Definitely, you would.

Banjo-Kazooie? No, I was actually thinking of that Mario 64 level with that sunken ship. Close enough, though.

Hm, interesting concept. I always knew that if humans and cats had fish versions of themselves, then bears and other animals did as well!

Yeah, it's funny that it never occurred to me until I saw characters like that My first thought for drawing this was that Donovan was basically chasing a mermaid and he actually found one... but not quite what he was thinking it would be.

Thank you for the comment and the appreciation
