Doing a nice brand new series of the 'Word is on Fire' combat classes. All new and improved and bright and shiny.Info:
Despite the name, Beast Masters do not dominate members of the animal kingdom. Rather their main aim is to draw inspiration and work in tandem with various kinds of fauna. The primary point in their discipline is understanding how and why creatures do what they do, humanoids and other sentient included. They appear to take a 'primitive' almost base approach to things, but are often far more calculating then they appear, and most seem to have a very optimistic out look and are at ease with the seeming indifference of nature.
Their primary skill is their ability to 'commune' with the various fauna they may encounter, asking for assistance or even just information. This makes them excellent survivalists. They use this skill in combat as well, from calming an enraged animal, to asking for help in a fight, to convincing a trained attack animal to turn on it's trainer. Woe be it to the wicked overlord who thought he was safe behind his dogs.
In addition Beast Masters can offer a temporary 'boost' to an allied creature, from enhancing natural abilities, to granting them some of their own powers, to even momentarily moving them back or forward along the evolutionary chain. They can also boot themselves and take on the traits of other animals, from dense protective hide, to horns and claws, to the titanic weight of a gigantic creature.
As with all of their kind, Beast Masters have a base skill in elemental kinesis, their attacks draw inspiration from the animal kingdom, taking the form of various creatures; for example, it would not be whole unexpected to be attacked by phantom serpents, or bunnies made of fire. 'Nature is a simple and complex thing, it is so much larger than us all, and so small it is bound to every cell in our bodies, it cares nothing for your dreams and ambitions, I challenge you to defy it.'
Weapons:
Much like their armor a Beast Master's weapon is generally 'basic' in nature, and is usually made from things like leather and bone, in addition to metal. A favorite seems to be the spear or pole-arm, halberds and axes not far behind. daggers and short swords are also common, and though not seen as often, whips as well. A Beast Master's weapon generally is a multipurpose one, serving them not only in a fight, but also as tools in their daily lives.
