Description
Doing a nice brand new series of the 'Word is on Fire' combat classes. All new and improved and bright and shiny.Info
The main purpose of the healer is ultimately to heal. There is no wound they can not mend, no illness they cannot cure. Highly trained healers can even revive those who have been dead a short time if the 'soul' has not departed.
However this is not all they are capable of. Though they prefer not to cause harm they are not above acting in defense of others or themselves. They are masters of the body and are able to alter their own, calcifying skin or muscle as a defense, or even forging their blood into weapons. Their extensive knowledge of the anatomy of various races allows them to cause as little damage as possible while rendering an aggressor non-combative. However they do provide medical aid afterwards, at times in a nearly compulsive manor.
If they are attacked while providing aid or are overwhelmed or outnumbered a healer can also use donated remains to create a corpse guardian. While looking exactly like the deceased these constructs are only bodies and do not posses conscious thought or souls, and will return to nothing more than fragments of bone when no longer needed.
Highly skilled Healers are capable of creating barriers or circles of protection similar to those of a Defender; however these guard against afflictions, attacks on the spirit and mind, rather than physical damage. Their greatest skill however is the suspension of ‘soul’; this can be used to protect a patient during major or risky medical procedures, preventing them from dieing. Inversely this skill can be used on an aggressor, temporarily removing the 'soul' and placing their body in a coma like state, to be restored when they have been properly disarmed and restrained. This skill is only shared by the Summoner, of which it is a common staple.
Weapons
Healers tend to use staff like weapons, as they can disarm an opponent with minimal chance of lethal damage. They may also wield fist weapons, or similar, such as Tonfa (where the design of the night stick originates) or Nunchaku. On very rare occasions they may possess a short blade or knife. The linking trait to all these weapons is the incorporation of a lamp or lantern; in fact the most common weapon for a healer simply is a lantern.
The lanterns ignite when healers invoke their powers, the common belief being that the fire with in them is drawn directly from the wielder’s own spirits. No one is certain when or why this became common, but lore tells us that they are 'lights in the darkness, able to shine brighter than death, guiding souls not ready to depart and anchoring them to the living world'.

why they look similar to the necromancers?

Well they're supposed to look more like doctors, but if you mean why do they have similar powers, it's because I've never been fond of how 'the healer' is treated in stories. A lot of stories look down on them, portraying them as weak and needing someone to protect them, participating in conflict only when it's over and even then mostly ignored.
So I wanted to give them the ability to protect themselves and others so that they would be allowed a more active roll and not just waiting on the sidelines to pick up the bodies and sop up the blood.

A bunch of them are done already, they're just missing their other half. As I finish those they'll be popping up.
As for the comic I'm slowly recovering that. Sadly a few months ago I stupidly forgot to back up my files an the majority of everything new I'd made got deleted. So now I have to redo it all, and to make sure I'd be on top of it from now on I decided to finish the entirety of the chapter before I start posting, that way I have a nice big buffer and you guys aren't left waiting forever for a new page.

yeah and I hope to get to them soon. It's just that unfortunately on top of restoring the first chapter I have other projects to work on too, so I can't work on it as much as I'd like.

I love this concept, blood magic and necromancy in most settings firmly tends to be the tools of choice of the bad guys. Giving these same powers to the kindest most benevolent guys around is just awesome and done in a way that makes perfect sense.
