Yesterday I had the sudden urge to draw some Metroid fan art.
so here's Samus checking out Phendrana. I need to work on drawing landscapes more often...This area in the game is so pretty, but so annoying to play through... >.>
Made in GIMP in about 6 hours I think. Used some texture brushes from . I also cheated and modified a sky from one of the default backgrounds on my Ubuntu computer xD gotta work on those too!

Overall it looks really nice, but I think it could use some fine-tuning. The textures are a great addition but I feel like it could use more fine detail--maybe make the snowflakes smaller and more descript, as real snowflakes aren't spheres. Give the rocks some individuality, too--maybe one rock has a crack or a corner of the land above has fallen into a landslide. You could made the icicles a little sharper, too, as they're a bit blurry--and I imagine making them increasingly transparent as you moved down towards the thinning top of the icicle would be a great addition! Anyway, looks great so far, hope to see more Metroid-inspired landscapes from you.

One of the things I love the most about the Metroid games is the beautiful artwork and scenery, especially in Metroid Prime. Expect some more landscapes in the future!
