is this a reference to Prometheus gifting mankind with fire? or is this a mortal offering fire to the gods themselves? i'm just curious.

Personally I don't consider it a Prometheus reference, and rather view it as some type of phoenix symbolism given the fiery, birdlike shapes of the fire in the upper left. I find that particular creature of legend to be something ceaselessly inspirational
