Simba Returns! -->[link]Every now any then I get the urge to draw my little fav ball of fluff. This one came when I went to subway the other day and I saw all the new promo swag for the 3D movie and blue ray disk. (to which I promptly bought up the whole lot :3 [link] )
So in this Simba is crossing a grassy meadow part of the Jungle. Originally I had him exiting out of the "Disney vault" but I decided on this illustration instead as I was having a good ol time painting the foliage. Wanted to add bugs and flowers and stuff, however after spending a week on this on and off I just decided it was done and I needed to move on to other projects.
And yes despite my hate for 3D movies ( the kind you watch with glasses ) I'll be seeing this in 3D. Only to show my support for the movie in hopes sales will do well. To which hopefully it will send a message to Disney executives that a prequel may be good idea after all
Anywho enjoy!

[edit]My Lion King 3D review
Lion King 3D gets my approval! And actually, I might see it again. Honestly I was all ready to bash the 3D because previously couldn't imagine how they could pull it off and still make it look good... but dammit they did a fine job! Only parts I could complain that were 3D related were some of the smoke effects in Be Prepared and the Stampede scenes were a tad exaggerated and made the shots very washed out. Up close images in 3D broke the depth of field illusion and I felt anything in 3D that was super quick; like for instance when Zazu is flying up to pride rock in the opening song, hand a odd flickering effect with the eye. But otherwise the 3D grass was freakin amazing! Especially when you first see adult Nala chase Pumba. It was like that 2 second scene was made for 3D. Anything that had to deal with water was just simply beautiful and I can't wait to be king was really well done with so many layers of action all at once flawlessly meshed so well with the 3D. I gotta say I'm really impressed.
Unrelated to the movie… last night definitely caught me off my guard. Especially when we met up with a few co-workers and the Theater was pretty much packed full for a late night 9:15 showing. We got their early enough as we usually do for most movies but thank god other people were there earlier and got seats. Even though we had to sit below in the bottom rows it wasn’t too bad. Now I’m thinking oh great… kids are going to talk though this whole thing and ruin it! ( I had a bad experience with Finding Nemo in theaters ) But actually the packed full theater was rather awesome! People were laughing, crying and signing the songs! My favorite part was when people chanted “I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts!” and Timon and Pumba’s luau. It definitely had that interactive feeling to it which I didn’t expect.
So yeah going to go see it again. My only chance to see it in 3D is now so may as well.

I worked for a Subway for a year and a half... the sight and smell of the food still makes me want to puke. The thing is, the food is not as healthy as it's made out to be, and it's really not any better than mcdonalds or other fast food. So... I hate subway. It's gross. Lol.

XD yeah honestly the Imax release disappointed me. Any scene with Scar was a sad attempt to clean up the lines around his mane because they were noticeably shaky. Maybe there normally shaky and the Imax screen just pointed it out... but it was really noticeable in dark screens that the clean up job was less then par. Or maybe I was expecting more and I'm really just to picky T_T Sound was excellent though!
