Yep another rough animation I started last night and finished this morning.Β I thought it would be cute to have WereSonic and Sally meet for the first time... WARNING: cuteness ensues!
What inspired me to do this particular animation was, of course, the current Archie Sonic issues. Anyone who's a regular reader know by now that the build up to the Werehog is coming pretty soon and an Unleashed adaptation will finally start in issue #264.
It's made me speculate on a lot of things. Especially about Sonic's "werehog" behavior. Will his personality (as the werehog) be closer to the game, were he's fully conscious of his surroundings? Or will he be more animalistic, like your standard werewolf? I like to think it will be a mix of both. At the start, he may not be himself but deep down, Sonic's still in there somewhere.Β
Okay, enough of that. I'm just fangirling out as usual. Anyone else have any speculations about Ian Flynn's upcoming Unleashed story arc? Curious to hear them.
Also, I made some screen caps of the rough animation and I will be putting up a sort "work in progress" guide later on. Just putting it all together right now.

Hopefully it will be similar to my werehog animation.
Honestly, I'm not sure what will happen. If I had to take a guess, Sally will be really shocked to see him in his were form, and she'll brace herself for a fight. But Sonic will convince her it's him and he's cool. That's assuming he's fully aware of his werehog self like he was in the game.

I really like a lot of the things you have been trying with your animations. You're a talented and creative artist, so as a more senior animator, I've been meaning to mention to you so that could drastically improve the quality of your animations. I's like you to look up animation "easing" and "in-betweening". In a lot of your work I'm noticing good poses, but very robotic actions and movement. This is something i struggled with at first as an animator. If you try to incorporate snappiness and easing into all of your motions you'll notice how much smoother and bouncier your motions will feel. The key is trying to make sure all frames are favoring other frames so that there's exponential acceleration and deceleration, and not constant or gradual speed. It's a real skill, essential to an animator's toolkit. I hope I haven't come off as insulting or confusing; I'm just trying to help as I enjoy how active you are with your passion for animation. Insulting? Not at all! I'm always open to criticism, I wouldn't improve without it! I started taking animation more seriously about a year and half ago. I've read a lot about it but, of course, I didn't really know what the heck I was doing going in. I'm always want to improve and the advice you gave is exactly what I needed. I'm very far from being pro, but I enjoy animating a lot and would want nothing more than to get better at it.Β I still struggle with a lot of things involving animation, especially easing frames in and out. But I would be lying if I said I wasn't having fun trying to figure it out with every animation I practice on!
